Today is the day to...

Jürgen Nation has a daily Today is the day to blurb. I'm borrowing that phrase to share with you my own.

Today is the day to take a half day off from work with my husband so that we can purchase supplies for the Hurricane victims and drop them off at our local police barracks.

If your town or city is organizing efforts for the hurricane victims, I plead with you to volunteer your time or your money, or to donate items specifically requested. In our area each county has at least one drop-off spot. Check with your city or town hall if you're not sure about organized efforts.

Also, if you live within 300 miles of the devastated area, Tiger Lilly passed on the news that MoveOn.org has formed HurricaneHousing.org. If you have a spare room or two, consider offering temporary shelter to victims of Katrina who have no place to live.
