learn something new every day

Three things I learned in the doctor's office this morning:
  1. Before a blood draw drink plenty of water to make your vein “juicy” which prevents the need for multiple needle stabs
  2. The stomach muscles are connected to the back, so doing stomach tightening/strengthening exercises helps to relieve back pain
  3. It is possible to lose weight even in the winter (I lost 3 more pounds since my visit a month ago!)

1. Good tip, though I got a bit lightheaded...(I hate needles)

2. Good to know. So are sit-ups really bad for your back then?

3. YAY!

Sit-ups are bad for my back, but I don't think that applies to everyone. My doctor said to tighten my stomach muscles, hold, then relax, repeat which is something I can do at work, at home, on the road, anywhere.

Thanks about the three pounds. I was shocked. I was wearing my boots and jeans so I was expecting to weigh in heavier than last time, but nope.
