Kidnapped by the evil giants

As you can see I did not hit the delete button. I was actually at that ballgame last night, so it cheered me up. Today I am at an all day training with Microsoft. They're not here yet, surprise surprise. Please come save me if you don't hear from me this evening. :( Also stepping out of the training to get my bottom braces. W00t? I am so liking this braces in my 30s thing... (C'mon Jenna and MaMa!!) See y'all later.

Ooh! I'm so interested in the braces. I had them for many moons in my formative years and now that my bottom teeth have shifted (I shunned my retainer) I want to go back. What prompted you?

I, too, had orthodontic adventures in my teen years. It amazes me how early they (the evil doctors) slap 'em on now. Third grade! Holy cow!

I sucked my thumb until I was in my teens. I had an expander for a while because Mom didn't have the money for braces. So, the roof of my mouth was very narrow. I had my wisdom teeth out 12 years ago. For as long as I can remember my cuspids have slowly rotated from pointing to the side to pointing frontward so that they were finally completely facing frontward. When I was 28 my bottom teeth started to crowd in the front, and my top teeth on my left side started "caving in" (crossbite).

Lots of people my age that I know from work and life are getting braces right now. (It seems to be a 30-something trend?!) My husband suggested that I get Lasik surgery, but I don't mind wearing eyeglasses, I was more concerned with my teeth. I went to the orthodontist and he said "we need to correct this right now or you'll get TMJ". That FREAKED me out, so I got braces. :)

Now my husband has decided he too will get braces! So, we'll be like the couple in Best In Show (I get to be Parker Posey, yip!!).

For me it has been nothing but a positive experience. The "pain" is really just tenderness, and it lasts less than a day each time I have an adjustment. My experience is NOT typical, though. Expect pain, and take ibuprofen BEFORE you go to your appointments so that you will hopefully not ache after. :) I'm about to post a pic of my mouth. I have realized that the insides of mouths aren't particularly attractive no matter, but I'm posting the pic to inspire others to get their teeth fixed!
