Not a Princeton man*
Dear Blogosphere,
Despite the fact that NYC Watchdog mentions quite frequently that orange is the new black / pink, he doesn't actually like orange all that much and would like you to stop sending him orange objects as gifties. That is all.
Hugs,
~Poppy
(No, I never sent Dawg anything orange. Or anything at all for that matter. But if I ever did it would not be orange. It would be puppy. :D )
*Princeton loves orange. Is that common knowledge? Yah, it is. To me anyway.

11. Want to have kids before you're 30?
Since I'm past 30 and only have furry kids let's just say yes to furry kids.
12. A memory from high school:
I scored the winning touchdown! Oh, wait, my school didn't have football. How about the memory of trees?
13. Ever had a crush on one of your friend's parents?
Yes, but honestly I crush on a lot of people so it was fleeting.
14. Naughtiest thing you've done at work?
No comment. :)
15. Do you look more like your mom, or your dad?
It's pretty much a 50/50 thing. If you saw me with my mom you'd say, "wow, you look just like your mom!" and if you saw me with my dad you'd say, "wow, you look just like your dad!" I am more than 100% certain they are my real parents.
16. Something you've always wanted to learn how to do:
How to be independently wealthy without doing anything to obtain or maintain it.
17. Still friends with your exes?
Some of them. Others I am mortal enemies with.
18. Where you'd like to be in 10 years:
I already answered this here. I still consider it to be accurate.
19. Something you learned about yourself this year:
I like pie.
20. What do you want for your birthday?
Hot monkey sex. A new bike. The end of all wars, present and future. A hug.

Crying. Hard.
I just watched the intro to the May 10 episode of Letterman and learned that oral sex causes throat cancer.

From New Scientist:
I guess I know how I'm dying now, at least. Although my life line is quite long.

From New Scientist:
People who have had more than five oral-sex partners in their lifetime are 250% more likely to have throat cancer than those who do not have oral sex, a new study suggests.
The researchers believe this is because oral sex may transmit human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus implicated in the majority of cervical cancers.
The new findings should encourage people to consistently use condoms during oral sex as this could protect against HPV, the team says. Other experts say that the results provide more reason for men to receive the new HPV vaccine.
I guess I know how I'm dying now, at least. Although my life line is quite long.
A public apology
![]() mad at meeeeeee! | Dear SourPuss, I am so very sorry that I sent you a text message at 9:15am my time on a SATURDAY which is EFFING EARLY your time and woke you up which then caused the chain reaction of you needing to pee, check blogs, and write recap-apalooza. I was so excited to tell someone that I was on my way to get my hair done and you were the person I wanted to tell. I apologize that I think you're so awesome that I need to tell you exactly what I'm doing every moment of my weekend. My bad, my bad. And I'm soooooo sorry that I just resent that text message by mistake when checking the time I sent the first one. At least it's a decent hour today? :D Lots of kisses on your forehead to make the sleepy pain go away, ~Poppy |

Too tired to think of something smart to put here.
A lot of good stuff happened today. I am exhausted. I will vlog it, but probably not until tomorrow. You're having fun with your weekend anyway, you don't need me to entertain you. And if that's not true in your case then might I suggest looking down and reminiscing. I am off to ... I dunno, take a nap, take a shower, something. I'll be back around for SGP tomorrow. :)
Hugs and kisses,

'V for Vendetta' is my middle name
Last week Tuesday I sent a package filled with snack foods and my favorite movie to Avi who had recently admitted he had always wanted to see the movie but never had. I had no intention of ever mentioning said package here because I send people stuff and I don't feel any need to publicly mention my random acts of "kindness". Avi thanked me in the proper way that thank yous are given (a phone call, people, minds outta the gutter), I told him he was welcome and that was that. Until last week Thursday when I mentioned the movie in IM and he totally insulted me, then again this Friday when he said he still hadn't watched it yet. Those two IM sessions, for your reading pleasure:
I really had thought that my video from earlier today was going to be my last one with the same hair and same glasses that I have this very moment, but nooooooo. Avi had to incense me by telling me he still hadn't watched the movie I sent him (from the heart) so I couldn't wait, needed to call him out on it, and boy did I ever:
Did I forget to warn you that I swear a lot in that? Oh. I swear a lot in that. :)
This post has been 100% pre-approved by Avi. Sorry everyone, no actual shit stirring going on here. But if you want to pretend I am you go right ahead!
| May 3 conversation: Poppy: All those Rotten Tomatoes people are wrong. April Fool's Day is AWESOME. Poppy: :) Avi: hahahhaa Avi: yeah, my friends rolled their eyes when i told them what i got Poppy: I don't like your friends. Avi: hehehe Poppy: :) Poppy: Did you watch it? Avi: not yet Avi: probably not until the weekend if i can Poppy: If you don't like it that's fine, but I love that campy 80s horror shit. Poppy: and that's exactly what it is. Poppy: How can you roll your eyes at that? Avi: well, they're horror fans Poppy: you=one Poppy: So am I, but I know how to compartmentalize. Avi: :) | May 11 conversation: Avi: so, you don't like action oriented shows like 24, but horrors are okay? Poppy: I love horrors! Poppy: if you don't know that about me then you were never paying attention. Avi: i know that Avi: it's just confusing Poppy: adam, I am complicated Poppy: not confusing Poppy: complicated Avi: hehe Poppy: 24 is too realistic Poppy: horror movies are most ridiculous Avi: i'd say something like hostel or turistas is much more realistic than 24 Poppy: as is evidenced by april fool's day which you gave to jigsaw to chew on because your friends told you it sucks Poppy: turistas is silly Poppy: I saw hostel it was just retarded Avi: yeah, but the violence part of it is realistic Avi: 24 is a cartoon Poppy: oh whatever. Avi: i still have April Fool's Day right here Avi: haven't watched it yet Avi: but I will |

'The Job'
I know it's an entire week early, but here is the preview for next week's finale of The Office which only contains spoilers if you didn't see this week's episode and will make Molly happy happy happy because the Pam stuff is in there:
This episode starts at 8:00pm, so adjust your TVs accordingly.
Edit: NBC made their video private for whatever stupid reason. So I'm not sure what the point is of keeping this post up. Oh well. Other than Blogger is about to go down for maintenance so I don't have a choice if I click Publish. :)
Update: That video is working again so watch it. :)

gizm(o) doesn't like the bright lights, buck(o)
Hi, how are ya?
I feel like shit today, like I'm hung over. I'm not hung over. Or if I am it's not from something I ingested.
I know I'm the one who turned on the lights in my office but I really wish someone would turn them back off.
Ow.

The Office mostly not moving to hour-long format
Remember when I told you there were rumors of The Office moving from a 30-minute format to an hour format next season? Welllllllllll, even today there were rumors flying around because Kristin Veitch from E! Online kinda made us think it would be the case, but the truth is that four episodes out of 24 will be an hour long next season. That's why they're called rumors. :)
The original rumor announcement from Kristin has been preserved by Office Tally and, again, is not true:
The original rumor announcement from Kristin has been preserved by Office Tally and, again, is not true:
Original story:
E!’s Kristin Veitch reports that the possibility of The Office becoming a one-hour show this fall is stronger than ever:
I’ve just heard from multiple insiders that it’s looking very likely that NBC will double the amount of The Office we’ll get next season. I’m told it’s looking like each episode will expand to be an hourlong; however, if that plan falls through for some reason, I’m hearing that, at the very least, NBC wants to pick up something like 37 episodes of the show in its current half-hour format.
Poppy is annoyed.
Warning: If there ever were a TMI disclaimer to be handed out, this would be the post that deserved it. You have been warned. Have a great day!
Today after a vendor meeting my former officemate walked with me from our meeting back to his former office (still my office) to hint-hint about his wife being hormonal lately.
KEEP IN MIND THAT this is the former officemate who:
1. Is my partner in crime, so we are TIGHT, at least at work. (Not outside of work. Nope. No. Compartmentalized relationship. Thank you.) He is one of my most favoritest work friends and I am one of his because I give him candy.
2. Is hot as all hell so I died a little the day he told me he was marrying his wife.
3. TOLD ME HE WAS NEVER, EVER, NEVER EVER NEVER EVER HAVING CHILDRENS. EVER.
I was shocked when he told me his wife is pregnant, and he could definitely tell. I didn't know what to say, even asked him if it was his baby (yup), asked him if he was sure she was pregnant (yup). I eeked out a "congratulations" after he finished telling me about his super hawt unprotected sexcapades but I assure you if he never mentions him and his wife having sex, protected or not, again it will STILL BE TOO SOON. No more talking about sex with Poppy!!!!!!! (I just mean that he can't talk about his sex life with me. If you wanna talk about your sex life with me and you are at least 21 years of age I'll gladly grab a fountain soda and a bowl of buttered popcorn and be right over!)
Another one bites the dust.

I've lost my muse.
I don't know who my muse was but she left the building.
I've started and stopped several posts this week alone. I know it looks like I'm posting a lot still, but there's no Poppy Passion behind them.
So. Maybe move along to:
1. NYC Watchdog's Rice Krispies Cereal Wednesday
2. ACW's May Baltimore blogger event
3. Avi's dinner vlog
4. SkeeterB "quits" his job
5. Crys! goes to Iowa with her husband and screams the entire way there
6. Heather does some blunk drogging on the road with her mom and Nabby
7. SourPuss shows you the cutest puppy picture on the planet
There are other awesome posts but 7 is a good, solid number.

"Taking too long!!!!"
Has anyone else played the card game "Mao"? I used to play it all the time with my friends in my late teens and early 20s. I think back on it fondly because I was the perfect dictator. I always busted everyone for all their offenses, particularly reveling in my cruelty when I got to yell "taking too long!" (I'm secretly very mean. :) And ä¸åœ‹äºº 。)
*razzies*
I could use a hug today
I'm very much looking forward to going home so that I can collect some hugs from Hay. No talking. Just hugs. Need to replenish.
I think I've been drinking too much caffeine lately which has resulted in several roller coaster days in a row. They're self inflicted, and I'm drinking more caffeine as I write this, because I'm smaht like that.
I understand that I could hug myself, but it's just not the same. I also understand that I could ask a co-worker to hug me, but that is sooooooooo not gonna be the same and then I get sued for sexual harassment. :)

AI live blogging?
Oh, sure. Why not?
Barry Gibb... Two songs per contestant.
1. Melinda Doolittle - Inside and Out. Blech. Rushing the song, and I agree with Simon that it was a background vocalist performance.
2. Blake Lewis - You Should Be Dancing. Beatboxing is not working for this song, at all. Weird how the wrong song choice can make my favorite performer not be my favorite. It was bad. Agree with Randy and Simon.
3. LaKisha Jones - Stayin' Alive. Good song choice, good makeup, bad outfit, and she kept messing with her hair. But this is the first week I've liked LaKisha at all in a very long time. So, nice job. :) Very good job playing around the melody. Disagree with Randy and Simon.
4. Jordin Sparks - To Love Somebody. What the hell is she wearing? Hot Mama hair and makeup, and she's beautiful. Slow start to the song but started getting very good toward the end. I really can't believe she's only 17.
5. Melinda - How Can You Mend A Broken Heart. Slooooooow song to start with and I just didn't enjoy her version until her crescendo. I also didn't like her stomping around and showing her teeth. Her last note was off. Gotta hit those and leave us with a good taste in our mouths...
6. Blake - This Is Where. I've never heard this song or heard of it so I don't know what to compare it to. It sounds like he tried to Duran Duran it and it didn't quite work. Blake!? Why?! You couldn't have waited two more weeks to screw up?! I'm curious if Dan agrees that Blake is the one going home...
7. LaKisha - Run To Me. I hate the color of her dress but like the cut, hate the song choice but liked her vocals. Hmm. Blew the last note (sounds like she's losing her voice).
8. Jordin - Woman In Love. Gorgeous dress, love the song choice (a favorite Bee Gees song of mine), and I love that she is just standing at the mike rather than walking around with it. Soft, tender, and staring right at us while she sings. Agreed with Randy that it was a little pitchy, but I don't agree with anything else the judges said. Winner.
Is LaK going home tomorrow so we can have a guy in the running, or will it be a ladies top three? Hmmmmmmm....
If Jordin isn't the next American Idol then America got it wrong.
Update: SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I just visited the AI site and found out that PARIS BENNETT'S DEBUT ALBUM CAME OUT TODAY! [ iTunes | Target ]

I might be pouting. Just a little.
We're looking for a second vehicle to replace my car. Hay wants to get a minivan despite our plans for childrens being on indefinite hold. I want a Vue. Or a Grand Cherokee. Or a Suburban. Or a BIG TRUCK. NOT a minivan. *pout* Let's just tattoo "soccer mom" on my forehead now. (No disrespect to the soccer moms, but I am not one. And can't be. And won't be.)

According to Apple:
I'm guessing they meant 9/03, especially since the feed is wrong but the referring page is right. I'm also guessing the hand-picked artists totally suck and that one free song plus a mystery 10-song sampler isn't enough of a draw for people to choose TicketMaster. Am I wrong? Yah, no.
And, isn't it too nice to be at work today?!? It's sunny and76 79 81 degrees here in Poppyland. Hay and I are IMing about leaving early, although we probably won't. :) But we will be grilling for dinner! Mmmmmm, grilled chops. Mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm..............

Food porn: Cake edition
Found this on Slashfood yesterday which links to various flickr photos of game cakes.
I asked Hay for the Galaga cake for my birthday. When he said "that took some work" I countered with "I'm worth it!" and "at least I didn't ask for this one." :) I may have swayed him. Then again, probably not. B? I'm seeing you for my birthday, will you make me the Galaga cake? Pretty please?!?!?

Extreme Makeover: Drunk Edition
In case you didn't hear but you care, Ty Pennington was arrested for DUI (alcohol and drugs). He was released on $5000 bail. Hopefully he learned from Paris that driving while your license is suspended means jail time.
Just another memic Monday
Mistress Yoda is doing an eight part meme, 10 questions of an 80-question meme over 8 posts. I am going to copy her by posting 10 questions for the next 8 Mondays. Today is Monday, so here are the first 10:
1. Someone knocks on your door at 2 a.m., who do you want it to be?
Don't Hassel the Hoff. :)
2. Your boss tells you he/she will give you a $20 raise if you'll do your job naked. Would you stay?
See #8. $20 is chump change and I have absolutely no interest in showing my boss my bits. I already get paid a ridiculous amount of money in comparison to my co-workers, don't have kids, buy whatever I want, and do whatever I want. If he asked me to do it for free I might be more inclined... But don't insult me with a $20 raise. And, really, is that a $20 a year raise, $20 a pay period raise, $20 a day raise, $20 an hour raise? No matter, it's insulting.
3. Put yourself in a nutshell:
Okay, I'm in the nutshell. Now what? (Man, it's freaking TIGHT in here...) Okay, okay, I'll play along. In a nutshell: Complicated. Very complicated. Edit: An even better response would have been, "nobody puts Poppy in a nutshell." :D
4. Ever seen a ghost?
Nope. But I've seen dead people!
5. Happy with your body?
Yup. :) You know why.
6. A reason you would move to Iceland:
Because all the other semi-inhabitable places on the planet were destroyed by zombies.
7. A place you've lived that you miss:
Define "lived". I miss Europe and Québec, although I've never lived either place for more than a week.
8. A job you would never do no matter how much you were paid:
If I were paid a billion dollars a day I'd do any job for one day.
9. A band you thought was cool when you were 13:
Def Leppard!
10. You have a nightmare, who's the first person you think to call?
Ugh. Can't you just guess?

Sure, I'll swear on a stack of Bibles! / Lunchtime poll
I do not believe in hell, Hell, or H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS.
Just thought I'd mention, because the number of times I've heard or read "I'm going to Hell" lately is starting to make me think I needed to say this on my blog so the world stops throwing it in my face.
I do, however, believe in alternate universes.
The lunchtime poll which I expect no one to take/do: Do you believe in Hell? Based on faith or fact? If fact, please provide details for or against.
Just thought I'd mention, because the number of times I've heard or read "I'm going to Hell" lately is starting to make me think I needed to say this on my blog so the world stops throwing it in my face.
I do, however, believe in alternate universes.

A self called nowhere
So, I saw They Might Be Giants this weekend and I would just like to inform you that YOU NEED TO BUY THEIR NEW ALBUM, THE ELSE, WHEN IT COMES OUT AT iTUNES ON MAY 15* OR IN STORES IN JULY. BECAUSE IT RAWKS. SERIOUSLY.
And I'm in love with John Flansburgh. Full, blowed up, can't live without him, would have his babies if he really needed me to, in love with him. He looked right at me. I told him I loved him. He loves me too. He will be back in July to whisk me away. I cannot wait. Except I'll be gone most of July. Hmm. That's a problem.
*Not available yet for pre-order so I'll remind everyone on the date. :)

GDSOBBBQ
Dear neighbor kid with your stupid fucking go kart,
Stop driving it up and down the street. If you do not stop I will come outside with a dozen eggs and throw them at you as you pass by.
FUCKING A, I MEAN IT.
Kisses,
~Poppy

Sunday is the best-worst day for Blogger to be down!
For the past two hours I have been locked out of doing anything but viewing Blogger blogs. If I tried to access my dashboard or leave comments anywhere I got this error.
At first I thought it was something with Firefox, then two more browsers later thought it was something with my computer, then two other computers later thought it was my router, then having tunneled into work and still seeing the error even though Avi confirmed everything was working for him, I finally found other people were seeing the error too and then two hours later that it was magically fixed. Comforting...
Yes, yes, my own domain. Yes, yes, move away from Blogger. Yes, yes, Poppy is lazy. Yes, yes, Poppy can do without two hours of blogging. Yes, yes, I like pie.

Nantucket*
I'm stealing a meme from Avi. Are you surprised? Of course you're not.
A - Attached or Single? Why are these the only two choices? I'm not single, but I'm not attached to anything. I'm not a freaking siamese twin!
B - Best Friend: Hay and B are my bestest friends, but that wasn't the question. Hmm. I have a lot of best friends and you know who you are.
C - Cake or Pie: Cheesecake.
D - Drink of Choice: Ice water or ice milk or fountain soda Coke -- it's such a toss-up.
E - Essential Item: I've answered this before... Have I already done this meme? Hmm, guess not. Chapstick!
G - Gummi Bears or Worms? Fuck that. Chocolate, please. [Avi's answer preserved.]
H - Hometown: Poppyland, USA? I'd tell you but Hay hates it when I slut my whereabouts around the internets.
I - Indulgence: Everything I do is an indulgence.
J - January or February: July. :P
K - Kids: I like my life the way it is, thank you very much. Why would I ruin it by adding another mouth to feed? [Avi's answer preserved. YAR.]
L - Life is incomplete without: Alone time (dba "quality time").
M - Marriage Date: August 12, 2000
N - Number of Siblings: One brother and one sister.
O - Oranges or Apples? What? I so don't care. How about lemons.
P - Phobias/Fears: Heights make me nervous, and I don't enjoy being in a confined space, but I'm not really afraid of anything. [You have reached Avi's blog. Poppy has retired because Avi has assumed her identity. Thanks for the memories.]
Q - Favorite Quote: "What goes around comes around." -- Author unknown. We were forced to pick quotes for our family crests in 8th grade which were hung up for all the school to see. I was a smartass and chose this one. I don't have much use for quotes, so this is the default one I throw at people when forced to choose a favorite quote.
R - Reasons to smile: Private Eyes, they're watching you, they see your every move.
S - Season: -ing? I like garlic powder, black pepper, white pepper, and cayenne pepper the best.
T- Tag Three: Stop telling me to tag people!!!!!!! I could get arrested for that. Hmm, maybe I want that...
U - Unknown Fact(oid) About Me: I can bench press 600 lbs. (factoids are pieces of unverified or inaccurate information, hence my addition of oid)
V - Vegetarian or Oppressor of Animals? I oppress dead animals. I also oppress dead vegetables.
W - Worst Habit: I am slightly sex crazed. It's only a worst habit in Hay's eyes. No one else seems particularly bothered by it...
X - X-rays or Ultrasounds? I have a small bladder. X-rays, please.
Y - Your Favorite Foods: Macaroni and cheese made by me, steak, cheese, Reese's peanut butter cups, and ... hmm, what am I craving right now ... pepperoni?
Z- Zodiac: Leo.
Bonus - AArdvark or armadillo? Definitely a tie.
*The title of this post has nothing to do with anything in the meme, other than perhaps my sex craziness and Avi's wish for a superpower.

Living vicariously through others
Do you know what I am doing while Mel and SkeeterB are wishing I was there? I'm gardening. And picking up groceries for my dad. And trying not to give myself a lobotomy because I have to go play cards with my stepmom later. KILL. Me. NOW. *sigh*

This serves as the repository for Mel's drunk texting for today. All messages are SIC. Including when Mel writes gong. *grin* And, clearly, I'm an instigator.
2:02pm Mel: And it begins... First drink tequila sunrise :) oh yeah, and feel free to blog any of my stupid drunken texts!
2:56pm Poppy: I definitely will be :-D
3:38pm Mel: First shot... Oooh warm gong down! :)

9:24pm Poppy: Take pix!! Im home now, definitely wish i was there!!! ;-)
My poor dad kept wondering why my pocket was buzzing all night. (Ohhhh, that was fun to explain. :) "Work, dad. Work.")
Side note: Also today I received text messages from SourPuss who was having a Bacardi with her friend and from B who was at a wedding. I feel popular today. Thanks, everyone. :)

Cinco de Mayo
If you're not reading Avi's blog I would like you to submit an essay in the comments about why not. And if this essay includes "because his site is NSFW" allow me to remind you that you are not always at work. And that Avi is the funniest muthafucka on the planet. Seriously. As is evidencededed by his morning antics:
(If you can't see that then click it or ticket.)
I laughed so hard I was drooling when I watched this the first time. Avi was IMing me at the time I watched it so I know he's not blind as a result of spraying various things into his eyes which allowed me to laugh as hard as I wanted at him while watching the video. I seriously want some of those scents he's choosing to spray into his eyes. Yummmm...

Graduation day
To all the people who took the quiz: Thank you. :) I had no idea how impossibly hard it was for everyone but me. It seemed pretty easy because I know what has happened to me and I know what hasn't, but clearly I am somewhat of a master/mistress deceiver?
I'll give answers plus explanations then at the very bottom I give rights and wrongs for each person who took the quiz and, of course, reveal the "winner".
Answers:
1. Arrived in Belgium at 1:30am with no local currency and no way of contacting the people I was staying with.
True. After missing the hydrofoil because a motorcyclist was decapitated on the motorway I had to quite literally take the slow boat from England to Belgium. Rather than arriving at 6:00pm I arrived at 1:30am. Somehow when I arrived my boyfriend and his host family were magically waiting for me. I blame telepathy.
2. Ate an entire package of ramen noodles before realizing there were bugs in it.
False. This actually happened to my friend who was making the noodles for his daughter. He realized there were bugs in it before he fed the noodles to her. I promise!
3. Ate raw onions as a snack when I was a kid.
False. I hated onions as a kid. I absolutely adore them now and plan to eat them exclusively when I move in with Molly at the brothel.
4. Attempted to kill my brother.
True. When I was 10 my brother was over at my house doing his best to intentionally bother me. I became so enraged that I took a pillow and attempted to smother him with it. He laughed at me the entire time I had the pillow over his face. Fucker. (I love my brother now, but back then we were mortal enemies.)
5. Been attacked by ostriches.
True. In Arizona at an ostrich farm on the way back from the Grand Canyon. Ostriches are mean.
6. Been allergic to adhesive tape since I was 27.
True. I had exploratory surgery after which adhesive tape was placed on my stomach to hold a bandage over the incisions. My stomach got a nasty rash from the adhesive. The only place on my body I can now wear a non-hypoallergenic bandage is on any of my fingers.
7. Been in an earthquake.
True. Several, actually.
8. Been on cable TV.
False. I once was on closed circuit TV for a book report in 5th grade and there ends my television career.
9. Been sent to my room for not eating shark at dinner.
True. My mother tried to feed me shark without telling me what it was. I asked her what it was, she told me, and I refused to eat it. I did not get to watch “Little House on the Prairie” as punishment for not eating a scary-ass “animal”. How is that fair?
10. Been threatened at knife point.
True. By my sister, no less. Apparently I was bothering her just a little too much that day and she decided she couldn't take it anymore so she grabbed a kitchen knife and pointed it at me. I don't remember being scared, I just remember wondering how much the knife was going to hurt. She didn't stab me.
11. Been to Madison Square Garden.
True. Watched Larry Bird totally tromp the Hawks. Go Celtics!
12. Broke into a farm with my babysitter and Basset Hound.
True. My babysitter brought us through the forest, across a 4-lane highway, and under an active electric fence so we could break into the local university’s farm. This action coupled with her theft of several collectible coins from my mother’s boyfriend led to her being fired.
13. Caught my friend’s fiancée cheating on him with my hot roommate.
True. I heard them doing it. Granted, I did not see them doing it, but I know what doing it sounds like and there was a new condom in his garbage can after. And since she never copped to this or asked me not to tell I’m not counting this as a secret I should have kept. Bitch.
14. Eaten an entire pound of bacon in one sitting.
True. Several times, in fact. One of the local convenience store delis puts an entire pound of bacon on their BLTs if you get the large size. Yummmmmmmm.
15. Eaten three plates of veal parmigiana in one sitting.
False. I do not eat baby animals. Definitely not veal. I’ve been to a veal farm…
16. Gave a classmate a bloody nose with my floor hockey stick.
True. Totally by accident. Brought my stick up and he happened to be directly behind me. About three minutes after that one of his friends took vengeance upon me and hit me with his stick.
17. Had a chat with Spaulding Gray about life, the universe, and everything.
True. Directly after a show he performed at one of our playhouses he came out in the auditorium and the only people there to talk with him were my crew of friends and me. So we chatted him up for about 20 minutes and then left. I was very sad to learn he committed suicide.
18. Had a friend from middle school (who was threatened at knife point by her cousin) who later became my cousin-in-law through marriage.
True. Her husband is Hay’s cousin. :) She is fine. Her knife-wielding cousin? I don't know.
19. Had an anxiety attack at the movie theater while watching the first 10 minutes of War Games and had to leave.
True. My brother was severely pissed at me for making him leave and at the theater for not redeeming our money even though it was crystal clear I wasn’t doing well.
20. Had my brother attempt to kill me.
True. I was 11, he was 17 and high on illicit substance(s). He threw me up against a wall at the top of the stairs and threatened to throw me down them. I chose to act passively in that situation which I’m pretty sure saved me from being paralyzed or dead.
21. Had sex in all three of my boyfriend’s siblings’ beds (with my boyfriend, not the siblings).
True. Sorry to his siblings. His sister’s bed was the most fun. (Hey, Goldie Locks had a favorite bed, too!)
22. Had sex in a cow pasture.
True. With cows in it! But I didn’t have sex with cows, I had sex with a guy. The gay guy from my first 50 things. He was incredibly spontaneous.
23. Have a brother and a sister.
True. I never talk about my sister because that situation is very complicated. She is not my sister through blood and she was disowned by part of my family, but we are still sisters and the rest of our family can STFU about it. She named her daughter after me, for crying out loud!
24. Held a gun.
False. I’ve never held a gun. (I don’t mean a toy gun.)
25. Jumped off the roof of my family home because my brother was annoying me.
False. I’ve been on a garage roof before but never a house roof, and you couldn’t pay me enough to jump off because heights give me vertigo. Edit: Or at least they used to. They didn't last weekend when I was working on the boat. I'm still not intentionally jumping off any roofs unless my life is in danger because I could get really hurt doing that and it doesn't sound like a smart idea.
26. Jumped out of a moving car when I was mad at my dad.
False. My sister did that. Twice. I never did that. You can now probably guess which part of the family disowned her.
27. Kissed another guy to make my boyfriend jealous.
False. I cheated on the first love of my life because I'm a horndog, but I’ve never done this act.
28. Learned Spanish in college so that I could learn how to call my roommate a whore without her knowing what I was saying.
False. Although I was thinking of my friend’s fiancée when I came up with this.
29. Lived in the same state as a blogger on my blog obsession list.
False. There is one person on my extended blogroll who would make it to my blog obsession list if she posted more frequently!!!! And then this statement would be true.
30. Made out with a gay guy at a gay bar.
True. Up against a wall. He was up against the wall. I was pouncing on him. It was consensual, by the way. And it was the gay guy from my first 50 things. Only been with the one gay guy.
31. Made out with a lesbian at a gay bar.
False. I’ve actually never made out with a lesbian. Two straight girls and a bisexual friend, but never a lesbian. And definitely never at a gay bar because I’ve seen the look in the eyes of the ladies there. They’re waiting to eat me up. :)
32. Played on the softball team ‘The Red Hots’ in elementary school and won the state softball championship.
False. I did play on a softball team called ‘The Red Hots’ when I was eight but we lost every game.
33. Purchased five lobsters from the grocery store for the purposes of setting them free and then realizing I had nowhere to actually set them free. Hmm.
False. Although I’ve daydreamed of doing this I understand that my geographic location makes this not a well thought out plan. The next time I’m near the ocean I might do it, though. ;)
34. Read a very dirty parrot joke in a Playboy at age 6.
True. Naughty parrot!
35. Ridden a motorcycle.
False. I was offered a ride by my mom’s boyfriend at age 8 but I was too terrified. There’s a college kid associated with Hay’s business who just started riding. If that yummy boy ever asks me to ride on his motorcycle you bet I’m saying yes. (RAWR.)
36. Sat in on Canadian Parliament.
True. I was in Ottawa for a Canadian Studies trip. After politicking we had a beer party and a fancy dinner. Delish!
37. Stretched my arms directly after sex and ended up accidentally falling off the left side of the bed onto my right side. (Spinny!)
True. With those details how could it not be? I laughed pretty hard after the initial shock wore off. The lights were off so I did not understand what had just happened until Hay turned his bedside lamp on.
38. Taught my 5-year-old cousin the Macarena.
False. I do have a cousin who is 27 years younger but I’ve never tried to teach her how to dance because she is the one who teaches me to dance. Ballerina!
39. Threw a lawn dart at my brother’s head which unfortunately connected.
False. This is Hay’s unfortunate tale. He threw one at his sister and it stuck in her head. That was before Jarts were made illegal. :)
40. Threw water balloons at passing cars and had one of the drivers chase after me.
False. I was in my boyfriend’s Taurus when someone threw a water balloon at his windshield. He backed up to try to find the kids, but didn’t see them.
41. Took a girl I was babysitting to the mall and accidentally lost her for 15 minutes. (I had to ask Customer Service to call her name over the loud speaker. :D )
False. I’ve only ever babysat my cousins (as a kid) and my friends’ kids (as an adult). My mom lost me in a store once and had to have Customer Service call me over to their desk. She also lost my brother at a fair once and forever after kept him on a leash in public places until he was 9. Poor “Chip”.
42. Took gymnastics as a chunky 8-year-old.
True. I even did a cat’s cradle off the uneven bars, didn’t understand how to rotate, fell down, and knocked the wind out of myself! Chubby little girls in leotards are SO SEXY.
43. Tripped in Fenway stadium and almost broke my wrist.
False. I’ve been to Fenway several times (and going again in September!!!!!!@@~!@!!11~~!11) but I’ve never ever tripped there.
44. Walked into a room before I realized its floor was covered in maggots.
True. I interned at the vet’s for a summer when I was 16. There was a dog in one of the cages who was rotting from the inside. Maggots crawled out of him and across the holding room floor. I even remember what shoes, pants, and socks I was wearing that fateful day. Gah.
45. Was allergic to strawberries until the age of 28.
True. The seeds used to make me very sick. I somehow got over that. Good thing, because I love strawberries.
46. Was failing the class anyway so didn’t bother showing up to my organic chemistry final.
False. I did go to my orgo final and failed it with purpose. I did not go to my physics final, however. I was depressed that semester and was incapable of learning anything to do with scientific lecture. I got A’s in both labs, though!
47. Watched my boyfriend’s father hit his sister.
True. And I FAR-EAKED OUT on all three of them. To them it was something normal that their dad did to them if he was mad at them. NOT COOL and I made that known.
48. Watched my neighbor slide on her knees across a Slip n’ Slide and cut her knee open on glass.
True. Her wound was “breathing” and traumatized me for life. I never returned for more Slip n’ Slide time.
49. Weighed 133 pounds in 4th grade.
True. I was a husky child. My weight has tended to fluctuate pretty severely all my life based on my emotional situation. Sad but true. Currently I’m happy as a clam so my weight is perfect for me. I blame this happiness on blogging.
50. Written a poem about a boy I crushed on that my mom found while cleaning my room.
True. It was titled “Jake” which was the real name of the boy. No pulling one over on my mom if I name the poem after the boy I complain about on a daily basis. :)
Rights and Wrongs:
In the order the quiz was taken...
(I am aware that there is a big gap here. Big gaps are fun. Keep scrolling down so that I can go outside instead of fighting with blogger. Thank you.)
I am amused that only KnittingSchmoo did not choose #23 as a false answer. The rest of you (except B who thought it was a trick question) think I don't have a sister which means I clearly don't talk about her enough/ever. I am also amused (don't ask me why) that only Avi, ACW, and SourPuss believed that I had been in a room where the floor was covered in maggots. So gross, try not to let it happen to you. :)
Winners:
B and Spénce both got 10 out of 20 correct so they both get a prize!
B is receiving a selection of LUSH bath bombs because she loves them and deserves them. Spénce is receiving cold, hard PayPal cash to go toward the purchase of his new uncrappycamera. He would have received a gift certificate to a lovely little shop that sells yummy treats but they don't let me order gift certificates online so we'll have to pretend that's what I did. :)
I'll give answers plus explanations then at the very bottom I give rights and wrongs for each person who took the quiz and, of course, reveal the "winner".

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. ~ Boob Edition
Avi convinced me to not wear the undershirt I originally had on. He likes boobs. He's a bad influence. Hay is going to have to fend off all the teenagers who try to grab me at the concert because I will wear this when I go to And totally unrelated: Mel? Only one text message? You need to drink more practice shots, Sweetie. :)
Florida ensures that another Bush is not elected (by mistake, at least)
Computer World has the full article, but here's a snippet:
When asked about this exciting news Poppy replied, "no comment."
In a major shift on e-voting that could ripple to other states, the Florida Legislature today voted to replace nearly all of the state's touch-screen voting systems with optical scan devices.
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who initially offered up the bill mandating a change in e-voting systems earlier this year, applauded the Florida Legislature for acting after the state House approved the measure. It had already been OK'd by the state Senate.
The law mandates the replacement of touch-screen systems with optical scan devices and also moves up the date of Florida's presidential primary to the last Tuesday in January. In 2008, that would be Jan. 29.
Touch-screen systems have come under criticism for being unreliable, easily hacked and lacking the transparency voters need to trust that their votes are actually being counted. To address those concerns, Crist offered a bill that would replace the systems in 17 Florida counties with optical scan devices, which require filling out a paper ballot that can later be used for canvassing or recount.

"Keep up with me, people!"* / "You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you (you're so vain)"
Apparently I'm one notch too far down on the deadpan scale today. When I tell jokes people* are trying to explain to me what they meant by their statement that led me to joke with them in the first place. Always assume I'm kidding and you'll be right 99.99% of the time. Leave it to me to deal with the .01%.
And by "people" I mean work people, not blog people. You all seem to get my jokes. Except one of you who always thinks I'm serious. Not sure what to do about you...

"Damn nuns"
I was visiting one of my favorite clients this morning for what she told me were problems with her backup device. Turns out there were no problems, she just wanted to chat.
In this chat I found out that she was sent to Catholic school at which "the damn nuns" drove her insane, she was raised by her mom who worked all the time so she was actually raised by her village, she's going to start latch-hooking, and ("oh, by the way, did I tell you") she has been told that her last day at work will be June 30 and then she needs to pack up her shit and go. Luckily her husband has acquired another job which starts in September. They'll move back to Illinois (from whence they came, although originally they're from Italy and Mexico) and she will stare at corn and soybeans in order to obtain inspiration for her new work as a painter, sculptor, photographer, and jewelry maker. She will leave science behind. Because science is a passion of hers but the grant writing process is no longer her friend, has made her quite bitter in fact, and she refuses to do it ever again. I don't blame her. I've written exactly two grants in my lifetime. I got one, felt elated; didn't get the other, felt crushed. I also support a bunch of people who write grants and cross their fingers that they get funding but rarely do. Who wants that? I don't want that. I couldn't handle that.
I will go to her house for a farewell party and then we'll promise to keep in touch but won't. And she'll be added to the pile of people who burned brightly in my life for a little while and then just faded away.
This day. This day... If I hadn't already cried in the shower I'd probably have some tears to shed. Those tears were for no good reason at the time but now I understand they were premonition tears.

Things + / -
Things I will be doing this weekend:
Things I won't be doing this weekend:
At least the list of what I won't be doing is shorter than the list of what I will be doing, but I'm pretty bummed about those two things. I'm sure I'll get over it, especially if Mel drunk-texts me while she and SkeeterB are doing body shots. (What? TEQUILA!)
- Buying clothes with Hay (well, okay, I go to my store and he goes to his store, but we carpool there together!)
- Getting new glasses
- SEEING TMBG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Planting bulbs and mature plants in the blank spots of the gardens
- Mowing the lawn around the house since it has grown out of control
- Checking on my dad who had knee surgery (ow)
- Receiving random text messages from SourPuss :D
- Playing with the kitties, natch!
Things I won't be doing this weekend:
- Really celebrating cinco de mayo, because my state is lame :(sorry Mel and SkeeterB):
- Seeing Spider-Man 3 (maybe next week)

phoning it in
Today is the last day to do the contest. B is still winning by one.
My morning has sucked ass so far. I'm hoping the rest of the day improves. I don't have much hope until this evening, but we'll see what we see.
Regarding last night's super-sized Office: Hay and I kept wondering who the hell wrote that episode because basically none of the characters were acting like themselves. Very odd... Well, except Kelly who was rocking out to the cell phone rendition of My Humps.

Mother Nature hates Texas.
I was on the phone with B last night when these storms were hitting Texas. She had to hang up with me because she lost power and part of her fence fell down while she was talking with me. Messed up.

I lifted up the blinds to the kitchen window for Ripley and Red Squirrel was just standing at full attention in the bird bath. Thankfully he stayed long enough for me to find my camera and get a shot of him. And then Grey Squirrel came over and Red Squirrel took off. Oh well.
Yes, I did just mow that grass on Monday. On a very low setting. But Hay fertilized and it has rained so the grass is out of control again. The long part of our lawn is nice and short, I just mowed that last night! :)
Thursday wondering
Monsieur Spéncèr Pâtton sent me this image last night:

... which triggers us both to wonder:
A. Why is the US Immigration and Naturalization Service reading X-Rated Material on their business computers?
B. Why did they choose Spéncèr's blog to visit after visiting mine? (Is it because of the accents on his name? :)
C. Why did they spend oodles of time poking around his entire site after? (Not represented in the image.)
Mel, did you send them over?! ;)

Out with the old in with the tiny
Give it away, give it away, give it away now
Blake Lewis singing You Give Love A Bad Name:
:)
Update: The first one went away. Thanks to K for informing me. Everyone, lemme know if it disappears again, I'll keep finding new ones.

Not BaNaL!
Did I mention Barenaked Ladies has a new album called Barenaked Ladies Are Men? They do! Hay and I bought it over the weekend. I've listened to it exactly one time, but not because it isn't any good. I just have been cramming my Veronica Mars episodes. Also, in the very near future HAY AND I ARE GOING TO SEE THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS! I have seen the Johns in concert before but it's been 15 years. I have their autographs which my hot roommate got me back in college when they stayed at the hotel he worked at. The autographs sit quietly in the safe but I really should frame them and put them on the wall.
And, just so you're not wondering forever and a day, if you do not see your name on this list then your quiz did not successfully send to me: Avi, Bearette, ACW, Molly, DLil, Bdogg, Kristen (sarkasmo), SourPuss, Stef, MIL/Lisslo, Mel, Tug, KnittingSchmoo, and Liz.
Spéncèr, you know why you're not on this list.
Anyone else, even if I don't know you, you are so entirely welcome to take the quiz. I want you to. Please. I love grading things. Like a lot. So go do it! :)
When I post the answers I will also post which ones you all got correct. Let me just say that I am amused by the patterns of which items people think are false.

An AI WORTH talking about?!!??!??!
Blake's version of You Give Love A Bad Name fucking KICKED MY ASS. I'm such a sucker. I love that guy. He should win just based on the incredible risk he took totally beat boxing a Bon Jovi classic and doing so with a new hair color. When YouTube catches up to my enthusiasm I'll post the video and half of you can laugh at me while the other half of you are mesmerized along with me. :)
Update: No video yet, but rickey.org has the audio so go listen. :)

DeVito can now get "liqueured" up for free!
From Daily Dish:
Does Danny really need any more Limoncellos? Let's recall his last encounter:
Yah, no, no more lemon liqueur for little Danny.
Hollywood actor Danny DeVito has branched out into the beverage industry with his own lemon-flavored liqueur.
Danny DeVito's Premium Limoncello was unveiled Monday at the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla.
The 60-proof drink will sell for under $25 per bottle and is available from late summer.
Last fall, the 62-year-old made a strange appearance on the talk show "The View," saying he had been out late the night before with actor George Clooney.
He told the hosts, "I knew it was the last seven limoncellos that was going to get me."

Riddle me this, Batman
My YouTube page showed that my 3 dog videos and the geese video each had been viewed over five times, with several refreshes of the page over the last day showing that same data. I just refreshed my YouTube page again and now all the videos are showing views less than 5. Why would that be? All my other video view counts look correct. Very strange... I just viewed all the videos again through my blog to make the counts go up and none of them went up. That's more than very strange. Is this bizarro world?
"We used to be friends a long time ago..."
VERONICA MARS SEASON 4 3 LAST FIVE EPISODES START TONIGHT!!!!!!!!! (If you haven't watched all your VMs then don't read that post. I caught one word of it and had to quickly close the tab.)
Of course, I'm not ready to watch because I still have one disc of season 2 and all of season 3 to watch still, plus we don't get The CW so I'll have to watch through iTunes, but I'm just psyched I'll be able to girl-talk with Avi about Veronica's cute outfits now. :)

Will The Office be an hour long next season?
GMMR posted about this yesterday but because I was blog silencing I couldn't post it. And I forgot about it. And luckily I leave all my tabs open indefinitely and therefore have about 50 tabs open all the freaking time so I wandered back over to it and voila. Anyway, here's the link. I hope it's true because a half hour of The Office is soooooo not enough. Unless your name is Molly and you hate the show because of the Jam/Jaren jerk-around. But my name is not Molly. So I am happy. If it is true. Period. The End. Period again.
X-rated Tuesday wondering...
Why is it that the tip and the shaft are generally not the same color?
This is a joint wondering with the wonderfully fantastic and hotter than scorching Mel. Thanks to Mel's parking lot experience for inspiring this post.

I just won a Red Sox ticket lottery!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hay and I will be at Fenway on September 1 watching the Sox wipe the floor with Orioles jerseys. :) Can we say EXCITED?!?!?!??! EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and I've been asked to promote The Last King of Scotland which I will tell you more about if/when I find out more. I won't be getting money for the promotion but I might be getting a free DVD. I hope this doesn't ruin your opinion of me, but I love my Forest Whitaker!!!!!!

YAR!
Sunday I went to the marina to help a colleague wash his boat. No euphemisms there, I really did wash a boat. Or at least I pretended to. :)
I was tired from the night before (when I woke up by mistake at 4:30am and felt awful) so I slept in until 9:00am, got showered and dressed, then headed out at 9:30am which was technically the time I was supposed to be at the marina to wash the boat. Oops. Instead of heading directly there I went to Starbucks and ordered two venti iced cafe mochas without whipped cream and went on my merry way. I took the back way to the marina, but at the very last long road there was a sign indicating that the bridge from "here" to "there" was out, so I had to backtrack several miles to the other back road and go down that instead.
When I finally did arrive to the marina an hour late there were only crappy jobs left. Let's face it, when the goal is to wash a boat there are only crappy jobs to be done, but because I was so late I was told to climb a 20 foot ladder, go into the cabin, grab a disintegrated sponge, and start wiping down wood surfaces. I'll just mention that disintegrated sponges cause more of a mess than actually clean anything, so I was silently crossing my fingers that I would get out of this job. And then Captain Jack arrived to ask, "is there anyone who wants to do a job on their stomach 20 feet in the air?" I quickly yelled, "I do, I do!" so off I went with Captain Jack.
Turns out the job he wanted me to do was to affix letters and numbers to the side of the boat, but there was scaffolding under the section where he wanted me to do this so he had me climb down the 20 ft ladder, climb up the 12 ft scaffolding and then do the letters. I'm kind of a lopsided person (life is at a tilt for me) so I stuck the letters and numbers on very crookedly, and showed off my stellar affixing job. Captain Jack loved it, said it looked like they were going over a wave. :)
While I was on the scaffolding I noticed three dogs, two of which were Captain Jack's, but one that I'd never seen before. I figured out how to get off the scaffolding without dying then met up with the doggies -- Annie, a Jack Russell Terrier; Max, a Yellow Lab; Oddball, a Black Lab. Annie and Max belong to Captain Jack but Oddball belonged to a random girl who was at the marina with her parents and was just looking for some new friends. For the rest of my time at the marina I basically dogsat, kidsat (as in kept the girl out of everyone else's way), and filled lots of buckets of water to pass to people who were actually cleaning the boat.
Okay, and after all those words, let's get to the photos and the videos, shall we?
