Rogue Wave

I so dig this band right now:

They have a new album out next Tuesday. Although, honestly, it's all new to you, n'est-ce pas?

You know you wanna be their friends, so go ahead!

"It's not an iPhone, it's an Altoids tin!"

Are you aware that where I live in France we cannot obtain service for the iPhone? So, we have to go to another state country and start the service then permanently use roaming minutes. Like it wasn't expensive enough to buy the fucking phone and the service plan, ya know? Fuckers. FUCK YAH, LET'S DO IT!

(That last fuck was for Crys who's absent from my life right now and I am not sure I can stand that much longer. I just like saying "fuck" in all its variations. ;)

big fat buddha bliss

I was just able to make myself channa masala with basmati rice in 3.5 minutes, thanks to microwave technology.

I ate all 3 servings of it myself.

I am pretty sure I'm in that state of nirvana everyone's always talking about...

a quiet rage

Not a rage, actually, but when B and I decided not to go to BlogHer in Chicago* I had no idea it meant I would miss a golden opportunity to MEET MY FAVORITEST CELEBRITY ON THE PLANET, AMY SEDARIS (one and two).

FUCK.

(Merci, Maman.)

*B and I decided not to go to BlogHer because:

a) We've never met in person before, we want our first time meeting to be all about us;
b) we would have skipped going to BlogHer and just hung out in Chicago anyway;
c) there are people at BlogHer that neither of us want to see, so why put ourselves through that?;
d) when I come to Texas to visit in October after my Orlando conference we are going to party at her house like it's 1999 and I get to meet all the kittos while we get drunk and smoke (actual) cigars and eat steak and run around the house in our underwear since her husband will be away at a festival. :D (Yes, we will make videos. No, not while in our underwear or naked.)

Take the gator bait

Mr. Fab is single-handedly responsible for Sculpey sweeping through the blogosphere. Many bloggers are now quietly crafting their own Sculpey scenes to show their praise of Fab. Except Heather, who is an Ohio State Buckeyes fan but received Florida Gators gear from Fab for her 25th 32nd birthday:

It makes me swoon when Heather flips us off, even if she's only directing it at Fab. Her retaliation was swift, just, in Sculpey form, and so hilarious I needed to share:

It's gator bites. Yaaah, girl. He won't mess with you from now on! (Which means he totally will. Bring on the Sculpey Wars!)

Who knew?

Trishelle Cannatella from Real World: Las Vegas is the star of Ninja Cheerleaders, coming this summer to a theater somewhere or other.

I love ninjas. I love cheerleaders. I love campy. I'm so gonna see this even if I have to wait to see it on Netflix.

(Not to be confused with the 2002 film Cheerleader Ninjas, mkay?)

Because, duh, he has mad talent.

More info at Now Magazine.

I'll post video when I find it. :)

Thanks again to RW who alerted me to Paul's existence and made me cry at work.

Update: RW left me a comment with a link to Paul's myspace page which links to the YouTube video of his winning performance. Here it is:

Also, a video of the announcement of his win:

QT, snacked, SGP, skipped

My parents finally left for their home very early this morning after an entire week of totally invading my personal space. When Hay and I woke up I was excited to spend some quality time with him. He was excited to give me a wet Willie (my first one ever, so I guess that's a plus) and go play a zombie game.

Dawg keeps snacking on me like I'm awesome or something, when in fact he is the one who is awesome.

Okay, got your fleur set uploaded. Teaser:

Go see flickr for all 48 photos.

The best part of the day is to come: Hay and I are intentionally skipping a wedding. We're going to get all dressed up in our wedding gear (since we have it), go within a tenth of a mile of the wedding site and have coffee, then go home. CHEERS! B, it's the bird lady getting married and this is our ultimate vindication. If anyone thinks I'm kidding about any part of this you're sorely mistaken.

Yellow birds with very sharp claws

I don't game. I'm no good at it. I die a lot and swear like a sailor as I go down in flames. But I like looking at the world of gaming from afar. I'm totally into gamecakes and Heroine Sheik and now Sexy Videogameland which has a post about the theme bento community at LiveJournal, including a game character theme. My favorite kicking ass bird of all time, Chocobo, is posted there in bento box form:

Bring your A game, chitches!*

Slashfood reports:
The third season of Bravo's Top Chef is slated to begin on June 13th, this round to be held in Miami, Florida. Chef Tom Colicchio will be returning as head judge, as will host Padma Lakashmi and judge Gail Simmons. The panel will be rounded out with the addition of Ted Allen - of Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame.

In case that just isn't enough culinary madness for you, Bravo will also be broadcasting an "all-star grudge match" between four Season 1 contestants (Harold Dieterle, Stephen Asprinio, Tiffani Faison, and Dave Martin) and four Season 2 contestants (Ilan Hall, Sam Talbot, Elia Aboumrad, and Marcel Vigneron ) to be aired on June 6th, culminating with the teams serving their meals to the new chefs of Season 3.
I hope Tiffani and Ilan die a horrible death fall off the stage and have to sit out of the competition.

*Sometimes I think I'm being obvious but others don't catch on, so I'll deconstruct: chef + bitches = chitches. Chit is also what my grandmother says instead of shit, so that makes it even funnier for me.

In case you missed it

If you didn't see how things concluded with Jim and Pam in last night's season finale then you need to go here and watch.

The gold thing is the yogurt top from the Office Olympics episode, in case you are confused by that. Which means you haven't ever been paying attention and need to rewatch all episodes. :P

Cinco de Mayo

If you're not reading Avi's blog I would like you to submit an essay in the comments about why not. And if this essay includes "because his site is NSFW" allow me to remind you that you are not always at work. And that Avi is the funniest muthafucka on the planet. Seriously. As is evidencededed by his morning antics:

(If you can't see that then click it or ticket.)

I laughed so hard I was drooling when I watched this the first time. Avi was IMing me at the time I watched it so I know he's not blind as a result of spraying various things into his eyes which allowed me to laugh as hard as I wanted at him while watching the video. I seriously want some of those scents he's choosing to spray into his eyes. Yummmm...

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica. ~ Boob Edition

The Office - Bears Beets Battlestar Galactica Avi convinced me to not wear the undershirt I originally had on. He likes boobs. He's a bad influence. Hay is going to have to fend off all the teenagers who try to grab me at the concert because I will wear this when I go to seduce see the Johns. Thanks again to GMMR for the shirt. :)

And totally unrelated: Mel? Only one text message? You need to drink more practice shots, Sweetie. :)

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

I just won a Red Sox ticket lottery!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hay and I will be at Fenway on September 1 watching the Sox wipe the floor with Orioles jerseys. :) Can we say EXCITED?!?!?!??! EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I've been asked to promote The Last King of Scotland which I will tell you more about if/when I find out more. I won't be getting money for the promotion but I might be getting a free DVD. I hope this doesn't ruin your opinion of me, but I love my Forest Whitaker!!!!!!

YAR!

Sunday I went to the marina to help a colleague wash his boat. No euphemisms there, I really did wash a boat. Or at least I pretended to. :)

I was tired from the night before (when I woke up by mistake at 4:30am and felt awful) so I slept in until 9:00am, got showered and dressed, then headed out at 9:30am which was technically the time I was supposed to be at the marina to wash the boat. Oops. Instead of heading directly there I went to Starbucks and ordered two venti iced cafe mochas without whipped cream and went on my merry way. I took the back way to the marina, but at the very last long road there was a sign indicating that the bridge from "here" to "there" was out, so I had to backtrack several miles to the other back road and go down that instead.

When I finally did arrive to the marina an hour late there were only crappy jobs left. Let's face it, when the goal is to wash a boat there are only crappy jobs to be done, but because I was so late I was told to climb a 20 foot ladder, go into the cabin, grab a disintegrated sponge, and start wiping down wood surfaces. I'll just mention that disintegrated sponges cause more of a mess than actually clean anything, so I was silently crossing my fingers that I would get out of this job. And then Captain Jack arrived to ask, "is there anyone who wants to do a job on their stomach 20 feet in the air?" I quickly yelled, "I do, I do!" so off I went with Captain Jack.

Turns out the job he wanted me to do was to affix letters and numbers to the side of the boat, but there was scaffolding under the section where he wanted me to do this so he had me climb down the 20 ft ladder, climb up the 12 ft scaffolding and then do the letters. I'm kind of a lopsided person (life is at a tilt for me) so I stuck the letters and numbers on very crookedly, and showed off my stellar affixing job. Captain Jack loved it, said it looked like they were going over a wave. :)

While I was on the scaffolding I noticed three dogs, two of which were Captain Jack's, but one that I'd never seen before. I figured out how to get off the scaffolding without dying then met up with the doggies -- Annie, a Jack Russell Terrier; Max, a Yellow Lab; Oddball, a Black Lab. Annie and Max belong to Captain Jack but Oddball belonged to a random girl who was at the marina with her parents and was just looking for some new friends. For the rest of my time at the marina I basically dogsat, kidsat (as in kept the girl out of everyone else's way), and filled lots of buckets of water to pass to people who were actually cleaning the boat.

Okay, and after all those words, let's get to the photos and the videos, shall we?

Videos:

Annie wags her tail

Annie takes the lead

Oddball and Max sniff around
