I love it when I can hear the kitties snoring but I can't see where they are because they're hidden someplace fun. I love being a kitty mommy. :) :)

Conway Spitty City
Pat sent me a link to this video because it made him think of me when he watched it:
I instantly started laughing so hard I spit all over my computer and then looked over at each of the kitties to find they were looking at each other to figure out who the hell was mewing. (*giggle*)
Yes, I am 4.

Amy Sedaris might have one too
My guest post about pretty kitties is up at Avi's. Please enjoy.
For those of you too scared to go there I'll scare you with some of my favorite girl from afar, Amy Sedaris, and then you'll go running to Avi's just because it's safer there.

An office spoiler party confessional grinning extravaganza because I like long titles, keep it comin', hi.
Michael hit Meredith with his car, which I almost did to someone who came out of nowhere yesterday. Luckily I didn't actually hit her.
I'm only part way into the episode because I'M WATCHING IT ONLINE AT NBC.COM, WOOT FOR THEM CHANGING TO FULL EPISODES!!!, but I'm entirely convinced Kevin's right about Jam. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D (did I mention :D ?)
Oh, and Dwight totally killed Angela's cat. Honestly, it was a mercy killing. I'm not yet sure if we learn how he did it, but ... I'm just thinking of quality of life and how hard it was to keep my girl going when she was that sick. It sucks bags of gooey pus. (Yum! Hope you weren't eating!)
Update: ZOMG JAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a Miracle (It's a Miracle)
Don't you hate it when I get Culture Club songs stuck in your head?! *giggle*

Life lesson #1,674,342
If I clean my home once a week rather than semi-annually it is much easier to maintain. Hmm. Who woulda thunk?
Course, now there's catnip all over the living room floor which got there 3 seconds after I swept.

Do you see what I see (do you see what I see)?

Excuse my unmade bed for the purposes of this demonstration.
You see Ripley:

You see Allie:

You see how close they are to each other? :

Yah, they never do that. Except they kinda do now. The girls are bonding a little. :)
Of course, Ripley's a little camera shy today so directly after that last picture she crawled off the bed and UNDER the covers:

I love my girls. :) :) :)
In case anyone's wondering, "where's Georgie?!" let me assure you she's not far:

Hangin' in the window staring at the squirrels. :)
(I'm smiley today.)
Update: ZOMG, it's happening again! Look! :

Life getting away from me...
I had every intention of posting earlier in the day, but the day just slipped out from under my fingers.
I didn't feel well this morning so I stayed home and basically did absolutely nothing productive outside the e-world aside from feed the girls and do laundry. Very exciting! And it's suddenly past time to feed the girls again so I'm gonna go do that. Since I have nothing interesting to post about me, allow me to post something interesting about someone else:
Raise your hand if Russia (ok, the USSR) scared the absolute shit out of you as a kid. *hand raised*

Putin dissolves government
MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday replaced his long-serving prime minister with an obscure Cabinet official — a surprise move that could put him in the running to succeed Putin in next year’s presidential election.
The nomination of Viktor Zubkov, who currently oversees the government’s fight against money laundering, appeared to have caught much of the Russian political elite off-guard.
Putin had been expected to announce in December whom he would back to run for president next year — and Russia’s two first deputy prime ministers — former Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov and gas giant Gazprom board chairman Dmitry Medvedev — were widely considered to be the leading contenders. (rest of story)

Hi!
So, I'm in better spirits today. There won't be more explanation on the blog about that last post, sorry to "disappoint" anyone.
Yesterday I went to a company picnic during a tornado warning and had fantastic steak on the grill! Also got the biggest hug ever, unprompted, by Break Boy's son. I love his kids so much. They are so sweet and mischievous at the very same time. And his daughter looked sooooo adorable in her pigtails while she fell over backwards and giggled and babbled to me.
After picnic I came home to a power outage, a forced break from the eWorld. I appreciated the break, watched a movie on my laptop and took a little quiet time to just sit on my bed and think in the dark. I love the dark now that it doesn't scare me. I was afraid of it until January. Isn't that weird? No longer scared of it, now love it.
Used the generator for a bit of time to microwave some dinner and watch the finale of SYTYCD. Congrats to Sabra! Apparently I know how to call 'em. Was glad to see everyone back who could be back, but the sparkle was gone from many of the other performers' eyes (most noticeably Pasha's and Sara's). Danny's original partner (whose name I can't remember) was the best of the non-final 4. She is a true entertainer.
After this the power came back on but I was tired so went to the bedroom to do some more reflecting. I enjoy the silence, Depeche Mode-inspired or not. ;) Listened to some Justin Timberlake on repeat and enjoyed life.
The only thing missing: Kitties. They were all busy elsewhere, no time for Mama. S'okay, they're always in my heart.

Adventures in grooming
Just the one: When I pulled the cat carrier out of the Kia the door of it popped off and Ripley had a clear shot of the busy highway where people can go 50 mph but go much faster. I FAR-EAKED out and held the carrier at an impossible angle so she couldn't get out then scooped up the door and shoved it inside, holding her at bay. I then scurried over to the entrance of the groomer's which has this gate door you have to undo to get to the main door. I somehow managed to keep Ripley inside the carrier and open that damn gate. I slammed the gate shut behind me, set the carrier on the ground, and refastened the door. I dropped her off with Auntie Joanne then went to the parking lot and saw blood on my thumb and index finger. I guess I cut my thumb open while trying to keep my cat from running out into the street. My maternal instincts are sound. :)
Since grooming Ripley takes 30-45 minutes I went food shopping. When I came back to pick her up I noticed the door was on completely the wrong way, which means it came back off while she was being taken out or put back into her carrier by Joanne.
Oh well. Time for a new carrier.

salty goodness
Georgie's feet smell like Dipsy Doodles.
They do not taste like Dipsy Doodles, unfortunately.
Update: At Jenna's request, I am including a photo and link. Dipsy Doodles are rippled corn chips. They are deliciously salty and heartburn-inducing and I love them. I never eat them, though. I just sniff Georgie's feet instead.

Repeated daily
"No. No. NO. Do not bother your sister. She is sleeping."
"STOP SCRATCHING THE COUCH! THE SCRATCHING POST IS RIGHT. THERE.!!!!"
"Stop smelling your sister's ass."
"Stop eating your sister's food."
"Get OFF the screen! I know bugs/birds are fun but you're gonna break through and hurt yourself."
"Why are you crying?"
...
"You are so adorable."
"Do you want me to scratch your belly?"
"Do you want me to scratch your ears?"
"Do you wanna type something?"
"Are you gonna get that birdie? Are you gonna bite that birdie's HEAD off?! Huh, are ya!?"
"[Any one of the three girls' names goes here], you're in charge today while we're gone."

little bits
It's summer, shouldn't you be outside or something? Yah, me too.
I totally forgot that I had set up a recording for Sleepaway Camp on IFC. Now I totally get to see boobies this morning!!!! (What? Boobies are pretty!) Edit: Dammit! No boobies because the twist at the end is that she is really a he. So I think I just saw a prosthetic penis. I think.
It's 9:30am but I'm craving Mexican food. A nice beef taco with pico de gallo would be lovely. And beans and rice. And maybe a chimichanga (I don't care what's in there, it's fried and awesome). Now I am starving... Nice job, Poppy!
I'm pretty sure for the first time since it warmed up I have absolutely no plans for the weekend. Except drinking ice water and watching the cats go nuts. Yup, there goes Ripley now!
We can see our town's fireworks from our backyard because they're launched from *pointing* right over there, so people invite themselves to our house to eat our food and sit in our screened tent, in the front of the tent so that Hay and I get the crappy view of our own fireworks. I'm not quite sure how this happens every year. Except that Hay keeps saying "what time are you coming?" when they say, "hey, we're coming over for the 4th." I'm not opposed to visitors, I'm just opposed to people without common courtesy.
I am still hungry. Bye.

(one of the) worst cat parent(s) ever

Posted at PostSecret this week. Frank actually named the image "pleasedonotsendmeemailaboutthisonethanks.jpg" but I'm pretty sure he's getting lots of mail about it anyway.

"Is that a flashlight in your mouth or are you just happy to see me?"
Hay sent me this story:
Firefighters flush kitten from storm drain
PARKERSBURG, West Virginia (AP) -- It took two fire trucks, five firefighters, several animal rescuers and about 250 gallons of water to rescue a 2-pound kitten.
Animal control officers tried coaxing the gray tabby out of a storm sewer drain with encouraging words and food Monday before giving up after about an hour and a half.
Firefighters tried banging tools on one end of the pipe and flashing lights Monday night in hopes of driving the kitten out the other end -- but that didn't work either.
It wasn't until firefighters flushed about 250 gallons of water through the 10- to 12-inch pipe -- enough to wet the kitten's paws -- and the feline rushed into the hands of Firefighter Kevin Siers, who was standing inside a manhole.
"We had about an hour and a half of fun," Siers said Tuesday. "Everybody was pretty tickled" when the cat emerged.
After a very frightening day and night, the kitten seemed more relaxed and was warming up to humans, said Dan Hendrickson with the Humane Society of Parkersburg.
A visitor to the shelter signed adoption papers Tuesday. (CNN)
