Cruise tops The Fonz

According to Daily Dish:
CRUISE'S OPRAH MOMENT SPAWNS NEW TERM

Tom Cruise's chair dancing antics on Oprah Winfrey's talk show have made such an impact on pop culture that "jumping the couch" has now become a well-used phrase.

The "Mission: Impossible" star became the focus of relentless mockery in May, after jumping on Winfrey's couch and punching the air while yelling about his love for Katie Holmes.

The moment has now spawned a term, which was recently added to the Web site UrbanDictionary.com.

The definition of the term "jump the couch" reads: "The defining moment when you know someone has gone off the deep end. Inspired by Tom Cruise's behavior on Oprah.

"Sample usage: 'My new boyfriend Benny ... jumped the couch and started rubbing spicy brown mustard on his body at my family reunion.' "

The term jumping the shark refers to a Happy Days episode in which Fonzie jumps over a shark tank on water skis. So, Tom is the new Henry Winkler, but not in a good way...

You probably already know this because it's been around for years, but "Jump the shark" (from that Happy Days episode) has it's own website at www.jumptheshark.com in which they list other tv shows that peaked at certain moments before going downhill fast.

No, not in a good way! After staying under the radar so well and for so long, he has now come out as a friggin' idiot. And we all thought when he finally came out, it would be in some other kind of way!

Jules, until the day he dies there will always be more opportunities for Tom to walk out of that closet, if he is indeed in there.

P'nut, that's the site I used to verify my facts about Happy Days! (I thought it was a jump over a shark in ocean water, rather than a shark tank, and feeling really smart about that! :)

Indigo, it has a certain ring to it!
