Everyone, Richard from Cafe Oregano needs to ask his sweetheart to marry him, and he'd like your suggestion of how to do it. He has the ring, just needs that perfect way to do it. Please leave comments here and he'll read them.
Yay! Congratulations to Richard and Spice Chick!!!!!!! :)
OK, here's my suggestion: Dress up as Santa, put out milk and cookies, have her sit on your lap and drink the milk till she gets to the bottom and there's the ring. Then say, "ho ho ho Miss Spicy, will you marry your big bad Santa?" Like naughty quarters! :)

My aunt was just proposed too and he bought her a jewelry box and put it inside. She was SHOCKED!lol
Another friend just got engaged and her fiancee' took her to this place that had LOTS of Christmas lights and did it there.
i hope she doesn't read your blog.
(If he's going to do it in public, he should make sure she's okay with that. I know a lot of women who greatly dislike the idea of it being done at hockey games or restaurants, etc.)
Maybe he could start pretending he's into astronomy. Then, a few days later, he could hang the ring from a tree in the backyard, using invisible fishing line. He could then set up a telescope that will be focused right on the ring, and one night exclaim with huge excitement that he's found the brightest & twinkliest star. When she looks through the telescope and sees her ring, he can pop the question, telling her she's the brightest star in his life.
Or some such nonsense. :)
Well, my hubby had a hotel room full of candles and flowers (courtesy of a helpful friend of ours). We first danced to "our song" and the next thing I knew he was on one knee. It was REALLY romantic.
So, I would recommend something along those lines. Doesn't have to be in a hotel room, but whatever works. : )
Good luck to Richard!
Karma, I should have explained that, eh? :) Richard asked me to post this to the blog, and he assures me that his fiancée-to-be doesn't read blogs.
Be careful with putting it in food or drinks---you don't want her to swallow it!
I say, keep it simple. You don't want to be so stressed about the details of your plan that you don't enjoy the moment. If it's not too cold, drive her to a favorite spot for a midnight picnic of strawberries, chocolate, and champagne. If it is cold, stay in, light some candles, give her a dozen roses and a glass of champagne and go down on one knee. (And have some "goodies" on hand for a post-ask celebration).
Since it's Christmas, I'd do the whole box-within-a-box thing, but it's been done so many times...
What about a scavenger hunt?
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations in advance, Richard! I think it should just be kept simple and personal. What does she like? What do both of you do together? Every couple has their "thing," and it is really sweet to go along with that. I had a fiance in college and we were both very into our alma mater; to propose, we went on a walk (another of our things) to the campus landmarks and at the last place - the river with all the ducks there - he got down on his knee when I was feeding the ducks. And that was that. I also think it is sweet to do the fortune cookie thing. There are companies online that will make them for you and put in a message. It's perfect because there's no way you could see it coming.
Just think about your relationship and what you both do and what she loves (from bubble gum to bubble baths or a special place that you two go) and go from there. GOOD LUCK!
Richard, I think that's perfect!!!
AWWWWWW!!!! That is SO SWEET! Seriously, I think you have the best plan of all, and it's your ring to give. Can't wait to hear how it goes! I see she has been renamed from Spice to Sugar. I'll make a mental note of that. :)
