Margaret, that is the right thing to do, in my opinion.
I have a friend at work who is going to Scotland in August and is spending a day in England. We talked about her trip yesterday, and she's pretty sure she'll still go. She is not concerned for herself, but she's chaperoning 5 teenagers and she is concerned for them.
If I had plans to go to London, I'd definitely still be going. There will always be extremists, but you can't try to live your life around them.
