Burnt cookies make me mad. If I buy cookies I expect them to be cooked to perfection, especially if they're mass produced. Today's M&M cookies (which, admittedly, were only 35¢) are overcooked. Argh.
That's one of the main reasons why chain stores are so popular. The food isn't high quality, but it's consistent.
A Big Mac here in Omaha is the same in Hong Kong. Part of the formula for success is consistency, which eradicates variance. Taking away that variance is mostly acheived by machinery.
And I'd suffer a burnt cookie every once in a while, if it meant I knew my food was still hand-crafted. Albeit, your cookie was burnt and mass-produced.
