Cecropia juicica

One of the cecropia moths has not coccooned yet. Know how I know? BECAUSE IT'S CRAWLING AROUND MY LILAC BUSH, AND IT'S AS BIG AS MY GD HAND!

SEE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!???

I made a whole set of him, go see it. Hi res!

Hay wanted me to pluck him off. Anything that juicy I cannot touch. No, Sweetie, not even with gloves.

Yeesh! It would stay right where it was if it were in my garden too! He deserves to live. I suppose he's beautiful to his Mother.
Peace.............

For a person who doesn't like bugs the way I do, I find him rather pretty. :)

HOLY CRAP! That thing is frickin' HUGE! I didn't get an idea of it's size from your last pic... I thought it was weensy, but come on!, it's MONSTROUS! How frickin' huge is it when it turns into a moth? Pterodactyl sized? YIKES! I'm totally creeped out now. And I don't blame you for not wanting to touch it!

Wasn't he in A Bug's Life? Yeah... that's Heimlich.

Everyone else besides P'nut, I KNOW, RIGHT?!?! We're leaving him on the lilac bush. He's not eating too much, and we know he's about to turn so we're content with watching the process. Hopefully none of the neighbor kids see him from the road and come over to play with him/squish him. And, just for the record, I think he's beautiful. I'm just really not interested in actually touching him.

P'nut, I assure you that the little guy really was little last time, like about 2" long and the width of my pinky finger. Now he's 3.5" long (we measured this evening) and as thick as my thumb and pinky finger squished together. MASSIVE.

Ack!

I bet he would make a mess if you squished him... he looks like he's full of juice. Bleh.

Whar are those blue and red dotty things? ACK!

PS: I think it looks like some type of alien buttplug...

I'm just sayin'...
