Update: CNN has issued a statement that “[a]ll tsunami warnings issued after a major quake in the southern Pacific Ocean have been canceled, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.” Thanks to Sara and Vanessa for the heads up. I'm very happy this was a false alarm, although the earthquake itself was not...

don't know if this is true, but they just said on the radio that if a tsunami was going to hit, it would have started by now.
