Ordinarily

Things that make this day slightly out of the ordinary:

  1. When I looked out the window of the bathroom with Ripley I saw one single snowflake. When I got out of the shower and looked out the window with Ripley there was a proverbial blizzard.

  2. When I came downstairs I heard this horrible buzzing noise. Turns out my pager was going off (on vibrate mode) and the cats got annoyed with it so knocked my purse over to get it out of the purse.

  3. When we were driving around the bend right before the railroad tracks the crazy dog who chases cars was staring us down. Today must have been (not?) our day because he chose not to run in front of our car or chase it.

  4. When I was walking past a tree between where Hay drops me off and my office building a squirrel lost his shit and started angry-chittering at me. I stopped walking and looked up in anticipation of a potential attack. When nothing more than his chittering happened I said, “cool down, little guy, I'll move!” then stepped two feet to the right and walked away while he continued to chitter at me.

  5. When I got to my office the heat was not on. It is still not on. My feet are freezing, my hands are cold, and my brain is murky.

That's what I've got. What has happened to you today to make it not ordinary?

Oh, I guess a lot of people on my blogroll posted. I love it when that happens!

Good to know I'm not alone.

1. I had a bloody nose this morning (rarely happens to me) which would not stop bleeding and it made me late for work.

2. One of my employees gave me his/her two weeks notice.

I'm predicting that next my tuba will not play and my hair will turn gray (Credit: Shel Silverstein).

What, exactly, makes a blizzard proverbial?

Every morning, while putting on socks, the dog (a walking brillo pad) scurries under the bed. As I begin to leave, he scampers out and runs to his bed in the kitchen. This morning, I was walking down the hallway to leave, he scampered, I turned back toward the bedroom, and he retreated back under the bed. I turn again to leave, he scampered, I turned back, he retreated. Repeat this a few more times. He finally raced by me to get to his bed. He knows that a Puperoni treat is waiting for him when I leave if he gets in his bed willingly.

When I walked out of the shower and into the master bedroom bare-ass naked only to find the girl who cuts our lawn right outside the window trimming the grass looking right in.

Bearette - Me, too!

DLil - Wow, that is one sucky day.

Gecko - I just like the word proverbial. Your puppy story is adorable.

Avi - That's what happens when you call her from the bathroom and ask her to look through the window for a big surprise. :P
