Unix, Inix, Wuinix

I would seriously like to kill -9 the rest of this day. I need a nap.

Totally on a tangent: I've worn Old Spice deodorant since October and I absolutely love it. Randomly, out of the blue, totally unexpectedly, today my deodorant decided to react with my body to smell like the scent of an ex-boyfriend who I dated 15 years ago. I associate life experiences with scent, so I am having a bunch of flashbacks of our time together. I didn't enjoy dating him, but I did enjoy his scent. Does anybody else bind situations to scents? Is that normal?

Completely normal. Every once in a while I will get a whiff of the apartment my ex-fiance and I shared. Don't know exactly what fragrance it was, but it knocks me off guard every time.

Every now and then I smoke a Newport and am teleported straight back to high school. I didn't particularly enjoy high school.

I read somewhere that smell is the most evocative of the senses...familiar scents will trigger nostalgia. I actually had a high school friend and a college friend with distinct smells. (Which is not to say they didn't bathe or anything :)

"They" say that scent is actually the sense that is most tied to memory. I get whiffs of things that remind me of friends, family, and exes, and I am catapulted into memories that had receded into near extinction. So yes, I know what you mean.

Yeah, it's normal. And unfortunate.

Every once in a while, when I step in the elevator, I small cologne that reminds me of an ex-boss.

I have no choice but to drink it in for six floors, and then I'm cranky for the drive to work.

If I figure out which tenant (or guest) douses themselves in it, I'm gonna give 'em what for.

My grandfather smoked cherry tobacco. He died when I was 8, but every time I smell that smell I am transported back to my grandparent's living room, where I can clearly see his pipe resting on the shelf above the buffet.

I was going to say totally normal and happens to me all the time, but I see several people beat me to it. Instead, I will just say, "Old Spice? Really??" Huh.

Stef - Just that Pure Sport scent. The others stink in a bad way.

Totally normal. For example, the only time I've ever worn Clinique Happy was when I studied in London. Every time I smell it, it takes me back.
