What do I want for Christmas?
My family always asks for a list of what I want for Christmas. If I say "nothing" they get agitated. If I give a short list of exactly what I want they are mad that I'll know what they're getting me. If I give them a really long list they are happy and stop bugging me.
So far on my list:
- Me & Emma by Elizabeth Flock
- Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell
I love music, clothes, books about murder (fiction or non), horror movies (campy or serious), anything with a kitty on it (within reason), board games (although Hay never plays them unless company's over), and silly gifts (but not crude, no whoopee cushions or exploding gum). Ideas?
Update: Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas! You rock! More, please! Also, on the way home I realized I forgot to credit AnonymousCoworker for the Christmas gift list idea. Thanks, ACW! :)

Go on Amazon.com and make a wish list. You can forward the link to your family.
Definitely. I am a big fan of Amazon wish lists. You might want to put Donna Tartt's books on the list...she's written two, one or both were about murder. I can't remember the name of the first; the second was called "Our Little Friend."
Oh, a good board game is Blokus (I think that's how it's spelled). SO fun.
(My word verification is phoogap!)
If you haven't seen it yet, you should ask for Shaun of the Dead. It's an instant classic!
The other Tartt book is Secret History.
Both are excellent.
How about sending them the Tiffany catalog with a few well-placed post-its?
Oh yeah, I have the Amazon wish list. I think I have 50 items on there at the moment, about 1/3 of them books.
If you like murder mysteries, my absolute favorite ones are the Dame Frevisse mysteries by Margaret Frazer, and the Lady Appleton mysteries by Kathy Lynn Emerson. The Dame Frevisse mysteries are set in 14th-century England while the Lady Appleton ones are set in 16th-century England.
I love those books. Medieval murder mysteries are my favorite!
Thank you, everyone! My Amazon wish list has gone from 0 to 23 items. Looking forward to more recommendations! :)
B, I found your wish list!!!! Muhahahaha! And your birthday!!!! Now you will be assaulted with giftness.
I second the "Shaun of the dead" recommendation. That movie rocks.
:) I found Bdogg's wish list too. Napoleon Dynamite is one of my favorite movies ever. It also has high rewatchability. It gets better the more times you watch it.
The Japanese version of Shall We Dance? is good too. Strictly Ballroom is very weird (what else would we expect from Baz Luhrmann?), but fun. The gingerbread men looked yummy.
Strictly Ballroom is one of my all time favorite movies.
Man! Now I'm going to have to look for y'all's lists! :P
Your birthdays better be on there as well!!!
Poppy, I couldn't find your list!!!
:(
Yah, I think just my first name is associated with my list so there are thousands and thousands of those lists. I'll email you my list link and bday. ;)
