perhaps a rhetorical question

Why do people think it's a good idea to call up radio stations and use fake voices (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Beavis, etc.) to give that station praise for being so awesome?

It just makes those people look stupid.

Very rhetorical. In that same vein why do people do any of the dumbass things they do on the radio?

My guess is because no one can see them and they can act like morons in front of tens or hundreds of thousands of people without anyone knowing who they are. Maybe it is an attention thing- mommy didn't pay enough attention to them when they were little so now they act out.

I've never even called a radio station. ...

I sat in one once, but that's because my uncle was the DJ.

So they can be "kewl" with their "posse".

Either that or its really someone paid by the radio station to call and pretend to be someone else so people think they are a cool radio station when in reality they just suck.

The guy who does the voices (and I'm convinced it's the same guy over and over) sounds to my ear exactly like the guy who is the announcer for the station.

Idiotic.
