Just another memic Monday VII

Back to the Future

35. Do you know how to ice skate?
Intellectually I do, but my ankles don't receive the message.

Pie. Okay, okay, and this one's just for Avi because I know how much he loves this (*grin*): Cottage cheese with steak sauce. Preferably original HP.

38. Is bigger really better?
This is a dirty little meme, it deserves a spanking! And the honest to goodness truthful answer for me: It's not about the length, it's about the girth and the forcefulness of the motion accompanying said girth. (We are talking about oak trees swaying in the wind, aren't we?)

I'm sure he's a very nice man but I prefer George.

40. Name a friend you have the most in common with:

21. Name 3 things you did today:
Well, I just woke up so I'm going for: Brushed my teeth, showered, and got dressed.

22. Last item you bought yourself?
More manna. No, a cookie. Nooo, I guess it was Canadian popcorn which, of course, tastes better than American popcorn.

If a parking permit tag can be considered an ornament, then yes. Otherwise, I whole-heartedly object to dangly objects on my rear-view mirror.

28. Have you ever been tied up?
Wow. I'm not sure how that is any of your business, meme, but yes I have been.

29. What do you wish you were doing right now?
I find it best not to lead the meme on by telling it my deepest thoughts.

30. Who's the first person in your phone list on your cell?
The phone list is alphabetical so Avi is first by his actual first name. (Adam means "the first man" so obviously he's first in the phone list too. Is anyone surprised?) Directly underneath him is B. Hay is in there somewhere too, but his real name is alphabetically inferior to my best blog friends (including Sour who is listed by her real first name in its cutesy form and Mel who is listed as Mel, duh). Sorry, Hay. :-/

Cake. Chocolate. Cake.

You Are a Chocolate Cake

Fun, comforting, and friendly.
You are a true classic, and while you're not super cutting edge, you're high quality.
People love your company - and have even been known to get addicted to you.

What Kind of Cake Are You?

I once had someone addicted to me, so I guess that's true. Thanks, B! We're cake twins!

Just another memic Monday II

11. Want to have kids before you're 30?
Since I'm past 30 and only have furry kids let's just say yes to furry kids.

12. A memory from high school:

14. Naughtiest thing you've done at work?
No comment. :)

15. Do you look more like your mom, or your dad?
It's pretty much a 50/50 thing. If you saw me with my mom you'd say, "wow, you look just like your mom!" and if you saw me with my dad you'd say, "wow, you look just like your dad!" I am more than 100% certain they are my real parents.

16. Something you've always wanted to learn how to do:

I like pie.

20. What do you want for your birthday?
Hot monkey sex. A new bike. The end of all wars, present and future. A hug.

Just another memic Monday

Mistress Yoda is doing an eight part meme, 10 questions of an 80-question meme over 8 posts. I am going to copy her by posting 10 questions for the next 8 Mondays. Today is Monday, so here are the first 10:

1. Someone knocks on your door at 2 a.m., who do you want it to be?
Don't Hassel the Hoff. :)

2. Your boss tells you he/she will give you a $20 raise if you'll do your job naked. Would you stay?
See #8. $20 is chump change and I have absolutely no interest in showing my boss my bits. I already get paid a ridiculous amount of money in comparison to my co-workers, don't have kids, buy whatever I want, and do whatever I want. If he asked me to do it for free I might be more inclined... But don't insult me with a $20 raise. And, really, is that a $20 a year raise, $20 a pay period raise, $20 a day raise, $20 an hour raise? No matter, it's insulting.

3. Put yourself in a nutshell:
Okay, I'm in the nutshell. Now what? (Man, it's freaking TIGHT in here...) Okay, okay, I'll play along. In a nutshell: Complicated. Very complicated. Edit: An even better response would have been, "nobody puts Poppy in a nutshell." :D

4. Ever seen a ghost?
Nope. But I've seen dead people!

5. Happy with your body?
Yup. :) You know why.

6. A reason you would move to Iceland:
Because all the other semi-inhabitable places on the planet were destroyed by zombies.

7. A place you've lived that you miss:
Define "lived". I miss Europe and Québec, although I've never lived either place for more than a week.

8. A job you would never do no matter how much you were paid:
If I were paid a billion dollars a day I'd do any job for one day.

9. A band you thought was cool when you were 13:
Def Leppard!

10. You have a nightmare, who's the first person you think to call?
Ugh. Can't you just guess?

Nantucket*

I'm stealing a meme from Avi. Are you surprised? Of course you're not.

A - Attached or Single? Why are these the only two choices? I'm not single, but I'm not attached to anything. I'm not a freaking siamese twin!
B - Best Friend: Hay and B are my bestest friends, but that wasn't the question. Hmm. I have a lot of best friends and you know who you are.
C - Cake or Pie: Cheesecake.
D - Drink of Choice: Ice water or ice milk or fountain soda Coke -- it's such a toss-up.
E - Essential Item: I've answered this before... Have I already done this meme? Hmm, guess not. Chapstick!
G - Gummi Bears or Worms? Fuck that. Chocolate, please. [Avi's answer preserved.]
H - Hometown: Poppyland, USA? I'd tell you but Hay hates it when I slut my whereabouts around the internets.
I - Indulgence: Everything I do is an indulgence.
J - January or February: July. :P
K - Kids: I like my life the way it is, thank you very much. Why would I ruin it by adding another mouth to feed? [Avi's answer preserved. YAR.]
L - Life is incomplete without: Alone time (dba "quality time").
M - Marriage Date: August 12, 2000
N - Number of Siblings: One brother and one sister.
O - Oranges or Apples? What? I so don't care. How about lemons.
P - Phobias/Fears: Heights make me nervous, and I don't enjoy being in a confined space, but I'm not really afraid of anything. [You have reached Avi's blog. Poppy has retired because Avi has assumed her identity. Thanks for the memories.]
Q - Favorite Quote: "What goes around comes around." -- Author unknown. We were forced to pick quotes for our family crests in 8th grade which were hung up for all the school to see. I was a smartass and chose this one. I don't have much use for quotes, so this is the default one I throw at people when forced to choose a favorite quote.
R - Reasons to smile: Private Eyes, they're watching you, they see your every move.
S - Season: -ing? I like garlic powder, black pepper, white pepper, and cayenne pepper the best.
T- Tag Three: Stop telling me to tag people!!!!!!! I could get arrested for that. Hmm, maybe I want that...
U - Unknown Fact(oid) About Me: I can bench press 600 lbs. (factoids are pieces of unverified or inaccurate information, hence my addition of oid)
V - Vegetarian or Oppressor of Animals? I oppress dead animals. I also oppress dead vegetables.
W - Worst Habit: I am slightly sex crazed. It's only a worst habit in Hay's eyes. No one else seems particularly bothered by it...
X - X-rays or Ultrasounds? I have a small bladder. X-rays, please.
Y - Your Favorite Foods: Macaroni and cheese made by me, steak, cheese, Reese's peanut butter cups, and ... hmm, what am I craving right now ... pepperoni?
Z- Zodiac: Leo.

Bonus - AArdvark or armadillo? Definitely a tie.

*The title of this post has nothing to do with anything in the meme, other than perhaps my sex craziness and Avi's wish for a superpower.

Molly?

So, it's waaaaaay past my bedtime but clearly not past Molly's because we've been chatting for 3 hours now and she has made the life decision to become a ninja nun (see question 2). To be more precise, Sister Mary Ninja:

Bring it? No no, it's already been broughted!!!!!

Sorry, Avi, looks like she won't be running that brothel after all... No dental for you!

Friday, April 13, 2007

In which Avi tricks me into giving him more information about myself, as if he doesn't have enough al-gd-ready.

Seriously, I should rename this blog Avi Cedes, because he basically runs the show here at least twice a week and he thinks Hay has a cute butt. (I made that last part up. But if he ever were to see Hay's butt he'd agree with me that it's adorable.) Yesterday Avi posted a meme in which he got Mr. Fab to ask him questions that he then answered. I agreed to also do the meme so Avi has given me the following questions to answer. At first glance I thought they looked terribly generic, but he gave good arguments for why they are not. I apologize once more for calling his questions generic, because they are, in fact, quite thoughtful.

Before you go stealing the questions you see here, please note the rules state that you request questions, so please do that.

Now, on to my questions! And please note that in question 4 Avi is asking me to talk about him, he's not calling me those things.

1. If you had to choose between giving up your favorite foods or sex, which would you choose and why?

I asked for clarification on this question because I LOVE food but the thought of no sex ever again was a bit daunting. Since Avi said that certain of my favorite solo activities were still fair game, just not physical sex with another person, I'm choosing to give up sex. (Sorry, Hay. :)

2. What is your favorite movie of all time?

I'll qualify that it's really hard for me to choose one of anything. If I got to pick one per genre I'd feel better about it. Since I'm only allowed to choose one total, I choose ... April Fool's Day.

3. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I'm living in a much warmer state with a zoo of animals loved by me but taken care of by my aninanny™. I'm very successful so I have a stylist to dress me, a chef to cook my meals, and a full housekeeping staff to clean up my dirty messes. I'm the CISO of a company that isn't my own because I hate the responsibility of running a business. I'm writing articles for several prominent trade magazines, and occasionally travelling the country to speak at conferences about security in the workplace. I'm in the middle of writing my memoirs, not to be published until the time of my death so that I don't have to be around for the aftermath. :) I've talked my way into the behind-the-scenes portion of the movie business, occasionally making cameo appearances in campy horror movies. I travel once a month to visit friends I met 10 years ago on this thing called a blog. I fully expect that Hay will be tired of me by then so will have divorced me and run off with a younger woman. I have a variety of lovers scattered around the world, pining away for me because I've told them they each must be exclusive to me. Life is gooooooood.

4. I'm a foul-mouthed pervert with no heart and no soul. Why am I so awesome?

No comment? Because you're spectacularly charming, and you know it, you attention whore. (Trust me, everyone, this is precisely what he hoped I'd say.)

5. What is your biggest regret?

As with guilt, I made a life decision not to acquire new regret, so it has to be something from childhood when I was allowing regret into my life. The biggest regret is super personal, so I apologize in advance for making anyone squirm. I regret not kicking more boys in the groin while I was still under 18, because I am told I will now go to jail if I do it, unless it's self defense or unless it's April 16, 2007 and I'm kicking a cop in my kicking ass class. (At least I get one more freebie!)

Here are the rules if you want to play:

    1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
    2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
    3. You will update your weblog with the answers to the questions.
    4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
    5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

I have a bet going with Avi about how many people are going to ask me to interview them (I say zero, he started listing everyone under the sun). If you prove me right then I'll be torturing him in a yet-to-be-specified manner. If you prove him right then this is going to be a lot more fun for everyone.

I am not a follower, I'm a chooser.

As I mentioned, Avi did this meme today and gave totally false answers. I know this because who thinks placenta is Chinese food?! I'm choosing to give mostly serious answers with my Poppy humor injection.

  1. Is sex best in the morning, afternoon, or night?

Sex is best whenever it is offered to me.

  2. On which side of the bed do you sleep?

I dance when Hay and the kitties are watching. If anyone else is watching I'll do a little bit of sit down dancing, but that's it.

    Who hasn't?

  22. Love or money?

    Both. :)

  23. Has there ever been anyone in your family you wish wasn’t?

Wasn't what? In my family? Of course. Who makes these stupid questions?

  24. Oreos or vanilla wafers?

Neither. Unless we're talking mint chocolate covered Oreos, and then GAME ON.

  25. How do you like your steak?

Medium, medium well, or well done — depends how much I trust the place cooking it.

  26. How do you like your eggs?

I almost never like my eggs any way whatsoever, but I occasionally enjoy them over hard or in omelette form.

I pushed my cousin over when she pushed me first. I was 12. She was 9. Does that count?

  29. Would you rather have a root canal or minor surgery?

    Minor surgery.

  30. Would you shave your entire body (including your head) for money?

My first instinct is no, but I guess it depends what kind of money we're talking.

  31. Would you rather have lice or an STD?

    An STD. :D

  32. What’s your favorite hard candy?

Smarties? Sweet-Tarts? I dunno, I don't really eat hard candy.

  33. Ever been to a strip club?

    Not for lack of wanting.

  34. Ever been to a bar?

Okay, this is another stupid question. YES, I've been to "a" bar.

  35. Ever been kicked out of a bar or a club?

    Maybe. :)

  36. Ever been so drunk you had to be carried out of somewhere?

  44. Have you been caught having sex?

Um. No? Kind of a stranger, I'd just met him? But, that's not what you mean, meme.

  46. Does anyone have naughty pictures of you?

I am definitely pleading the blogger fifth on this one.

Okay, your turn. You do this if you dare.

we doin' things that the girls don't doooo

I met Tug through Avi when she mistook me for a guy and proposed marriage to me. Tug rocks. How can you not rock with a name like Tug? (Right, Molly? :) I found this meme chez Tug and decided to play along.

Have you ever had an argument with a teacher?
Yes I have. With the very same teacher who had sex with me while reciting Shakespeare in my dream when I was a high school Sophomore. I liked him enough to challenge him when I didn't agree with him. He respected that about me.

Can you count in Roman numerals?
Of course I can! What kinda question is this?!

Are you bilingual?
No, I'm multilingual.

Do you know how your car’s engine works?
I turn the key in the ignition and little hamsters start running for their lives in a big wheel. Right?

Can you program the time on a VCR?
I learned this skill when I was in elementary school. I haven't done it in a while since our VCRs are in a closet upstairs, but I'm sure it's like riding a bike.

How many email addresses do you have?
I don't know. 20? A million? A lot.

Do you own a slinky?
No, but I give them out as presents to my friends' kids so that they stay grounded.

Do you talk to yourself?
The voices in my head do that for me. (Tug's answer preserved. :)

Do you have a tough time remembering people’s names?
No, that is not a problem I have. I remember the name of pretty much anyone I've ever met for longer than 5 minutes. It's tiring.

Did you go stag to your Senior Prom?
Although I was asked by three guys I chose not to go with any of them. I'm just not a prom kinda gal.

Is any leftover food currently residing in your refrigerator?
Yes, and it will not be eaten. :)

Are you high maintenance?
I guess that depends who you ask. I am opinionated.

How do you want to be proposed to?
In retrospect, no differently than I was.

Do you work out regularly?
I know what is meant by this and I refuse to acknowledge the question.

Do you care about your appearance?
Yes, although I don't do much to present myself well.

Describe the person of your dreams:
Kind. Respectful. Young, hot, rich, strong hands for massages... What? IT'S.A.DREAM. (Tug's answer preserved, except I also add: Funny and intelligent.)

Do you like to be tan?
I don't even know what tan is. I lobster instantly.

If you had your choice of anyone in the world to spend a night with, who would it be?

How many keys are on your key ring?
Less than 10 on the set I keep in my pants pocket. More than 10 on the set I keep in my jacket pocket.

How much money is in your wallet/purse right at this moment?
I'm too lazy to look, so I'll just say that there was $40 in there before we went to get breakfast.

What is your favorite spice or seasoning?
Garlic (fresh, powder, whatever, just bring it!)

What does your name mean?
Princess.

Do you give your pets holiday presents?
Only when they're good girls.

When doing up your jeans, do you button then zip? Or zip then button?
Button then zip.

How far would you go on the first date?
It depends how well I know the person ahead of the date. In my pre-marriage life I tended to become friends with people before I actually dated them. I don't have a hard and fast rule on this. And if I'm being completely honest, it depends how much electricity I feel the moment I meet the person.

Do you sleep on your side? Stomach? Back?
Usually my side/onto stomach. Before I had a back injury I enjoyed sleeping on my back. Now it hurts like hell so I don't do that.

Have you attended a high school reunion yet?
Yes, this past winter. It was the dullest thing I've pretty much ever been to. Luckily, it was at a bar so I went over to the live performance side and watched the band play.

Are you ticklish? Where?
Sometimes. I'd rather not say where since I am likely to meet a fair number of you this year and I know the first thing you'll do is test my tickle tolerance. ;)

Would you rather change your past or know your future?
I'd rather know my future, my past made me who I am today, & I'm OK with that. (Tug, you are so brilliant!)

Do you believe in saving yourself for marriage?
Haaaaaaaaaaa. Good one!

Would you pick up a hitchhiker?
Perhaps with the hood of my car as I drive my car at him. I actually did pick up a female hitchhiker once because she stood in front of my car crying. I drove her two miles then she jumped out of the car, still sobbing, and I never saw her again.

Would you consider yourself a worrier?
I strive to not worry, but I worry.

Do you notice when your crush/significant other changes something about themselves?
Yes.

Do your first impressions of people usually stick?
Yes, I've got a really good sense like that. (Tug... Tug... This is why I like you.)

What movie(s) can you watch over and over?
These are the ones I can think of just this second: Groundhog Day, Scrooged, LOTR: Fellowship, Star Wars, Clockwatchers, Secretary, Real Genius, You've Got Mail (ugh, I know). Edit: I can't believe I forgot Ferris Bueller's Day Off! I'm sure there are more. Edit edit: Yup. Office Space!

Do you like to cook?
I love to cook.

Do plants die in your care?
I try not to let them, but sometimes their suicidal tendencies win.

What’s one thing you feel you must do in your life before it ends?
Go back to Europe, go to Australia, go to countries where I don't speak a word of the language and see what trouble I can find. I'm very interested in testing my survival skills. :)

I did not get tagged by Avi

...because at some point he learned his lesson on that. A link to Avi's post is here.

I love music memes, so I don't care if I'm tagged or not, I'm doing it! The “rules”:

List seven songs you are into right now...no matter what they are. BUT. They must be songs you are presently enjoying. Then tag seven other people to see what they’re listening to.

I am completely incapable of doing only seven, so I'm giving you one for every year of life I have behind me (32) in artist alphabetical order:

  1. Wreck of the Day ~ Anna Nalick
  2. Audio Delite At Low Fidelity ~ The Black Eyed Peas
  3. Colorblind ~ Counting Crows

  30. Natale's Song ~ Sia

  32. Until the End of the World ~ U2
I should make this into a playlist. Why did I not think of that? (Because I don't want to OD on my favorite songs, that's why.)

No tagging, but you do it if you wanna, how you wanna.

bookses

Found at Avi's:

Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror?
Horror best, then sci-fi. Fantasy is better in movie form for me.

Hardback or Trade Paperback or Mass Market Paperback?
I really don't care. I just wanna read, man!

Amazon or Brick and Mortar?
Amazon.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?
B&N for fiction and because of the Starbucks attached, Borders for foreign language and non-fiction.

Hitchhiker or Discworld?
Hitchhiker (book 1) is my bible.

Bookmark or Dogear?
I do a variety.

Asimov’s Science Fiction or Fantasy & Science Fiction?
Hmm. I guess Asimov.

Alphabetize by author, Alphabetize by title, or random?
Sorted by category, then by author, then by size.

Keep, Throw Away or Sell?
Keep!!!!!!

Keep dust-jacket or toss it?
Keep!

Read with dustjacket or remove it?
I take it off while I read the book then I put it back on when I shelf it.

Short story or novel?
I love novels and short stories, but I can only read short stories when they're in collections. By themselves, they don't give enough satisfaction. [Avi's answer preserved.]

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
Harry.

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
Stop reading when I fall asleep.

"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time?"
Dark and stormy, that's my style.

Buy or Borrow?
I do both. I have a membership to the library right next to my office building so I'll borrow or wait for a book to be gifted to me a fair amount of the time but will buy when I can't find a copy to borrow or need to add it to a collection.

Buying choice: Book Reviews, Recommendation or Browse?
Recommendations.

Lewis or Tolkien?
I'm not qualified to answer that. I've only read Tolkien lately, and read LWW when I was in 5th grade but don't remember it at all. I did see the movie version of LWW but I'm not answering this question based on my recollection of a movie. That's not fair to the authors.

Collection (short stories by the same author) or Anthology (short stories by different authors)?
Collections.

Tidy ending or Cliffhanger?
Cliffhangers are fine as long as the last book in the series is published already (which means I wait until the series concludes to start reading the books) and ends tidily. :)

Morning reading, Afternoon reading or Nighttime reading?
I prefer evening and beddtime reading.

Standalone or Series?
Series for most things. I enjoy true crime in standalone form.

New or used?
I prefer new because I am a germophobe, but I'll borrow and buy books at rummage sales and then wash my hands after I put down the books.

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole is the book I thought no one had heard of but it was almost made into a movie starring Drew Barrymore, so someone's definitely heard of it...

Top 5 favorite genre books of all time?
I can't answer this.

Favorite genre series?
I guess I'm not familiar with exactly what this means. I like really violent books with a good side story of lusty affair-type behavior, but I won't read trashy romance novels so I'll go for the Grant County series by Karin Slaughter.

Currently Reading?
Ceremony by Robert Parker (thanks, Avi!)
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks (thanks, ACW!)

Way TMI

Found this over at The Mistress Lounge and thought I'd play along.

* I am shorter than 5’5”: Yes, I am 5'4".

* I have many scars: I have a scar on my stomach from exploratory surgery for what turned out to be a polyp, a scar just below my navel and two dot scars a bit below that from another surgery for what turned out to be pain caused by scar tissue from the first surgery, a scar on my knee from falling off my bike as a kid, and a burn scar on my right arm from accidentally lighting myself on fire while making tea at age 10.

* I tan easily: I lobster easily.

* I wish my hair was a different color: I think it's a bit mousy now that I know what it looks like when I have highlights in it.

* I have friends who have never seen my natural hair color: Considering I have friends who have never seen me at all, I'll answer yes to this.

* I’ve had braces: Yes, just recently!

* I wear glasses or contacts: Yes, I wear glasses. I wore contacts in college but they damaged my eyes and now I quite enjoy having the shield of glasses over my eyes.

* I’ve been told I’m attractive by a complete stranger: Probably. I've certainly been approached by complete strangers.

* I have freckles: Yep.

* I’ve fallen asleep at work or school: No.

* I’ve had chicken pox: No one is aware of me ever having them but in 2000 my primary doctor did a blood test and told me I've had them already.
