a review of my new favoritest sunscreen products

It's so gorgeous outside today that I used my new fun-in-the-sun products for mowing the lawn.

These products:

work super well at keeping you from being burned. They spray on CLEAR, the best part. They apply quickly. They kinda coat everything around you in the mist so just be careful what's around you. They also make your skin super shiny. And if you get it in your hair it kinda acts the same as hair spray.

I'm not saying those are bad things, I'm just informing.

If you want to know more, Coppertone | Banana Boat.

Yes, I use SPF 50 products because I am very fair-skinned and burn like a lobster otherwise. Poppy Lobster is not sexy.

Legend

Since nobody seems to understand, I'm going to make a key.

When I say the following they mean the follow-up to the following:

stg - something
cx - change
yar - this makes me severely happy
blueberry - please stop doing what you're doing, my safe word has been activated

I'll post more of these as they occur to me.

Note to self

Watch the porn videos Avi shares with the world when you're at home. Don't leave them open and then forget about them and stumble onto them while you're at your desk trying to get work done.

(It's the one you gave to BPR because she wanted to see a chick with a dick.)

You'd think I would have learned from the last time I was in a similar predicament, but I didn't.

Note to self: Take the porn out of the laptop DVD player before using the laptop during a client appointment. Because worrying that the DVD will automagically start playing or that you'll hit the eject button by accident and your client will get an eyeful of boobies (or worse) is really tiring.

It's a fact.

It's very hard to blog when your mom is sitting on the couch next to you, assuming you don't want her to find out about your blog.

I'm back to work so my mom isn't sitting next to me right now but I still have nothing whatsoever to say other than "I hafta pee."

Sons of bitches in handbaskets of pie

I'm on this pie kick lately, so my newest profanity is titled above.

Did you know that on this past Monday stamps went up to 41 cents? Which means that whatever urgent bill it was I sent out on Monday is going to be returned to me. I have no recollection of which one it was. Will have to see when it comes back to me...

! (as in not) bad news: Jordin and Blake are going to make a FANTASTIC, perhaps BEST EVER American Idol finale. I am so PSYCHED! 11 weeks ago I could not imagine how Idol was going to keep me hooked on this show because the season was so awful, and now my dreams have come true. I get to watch a 17 year old Jennifer Beals face off against a beatboxer! Bring on the 80s, my friend! I hope there are mashups made of Jordin and Blake...

Not a Princeton man*

Dear Blogosphere,

Despite the fact that NYC Watchdog mentions quite frequently that orange is the new black / pink, he doesn't actually like orange all that much and would like you to stop sending him orange objects as gifties. That is all.

Hugs,
~Poppy

(No, I never sent Dawg anything orange. Or anything at all for that matter. But if I ever did it would not be orange. It would be puppy. :D )

*Princeton loves orange. Is that common knowledge? Yah, it is. To me anyway.

Sure, I'll swear on a stack of Bibles! / Lunchtime poll

I do not believe in hell, Hell, or H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS.

Just thought I'd mention, because the number of times I've heard or read "I'm going to Hell" lately is starting to make me think I needed to say this on my blog so the world stops throwing it in my face.

I do, however, believe in alternate universes.

The lunchtime poll which I expect no one to take/do: Do you believe in Hell? Based on faith or fact? If fact, please provide details for or against.

BAD Poppy.

Despite the fact that I just said I like to respond to all your comments, I haven't been responding. Rest assured, if you commented between the Friday FYIs post and the Text Messaging! post (inclusively) I have just responded to you. Very sorry. Hard to keep a comment thread going if the author doesn't play along...

And, just to be clear, my current tagline (see above) has nothing to do with any of you. I actually don't have anyone in mind for that at the moment, I just thought it was super funny so I needed to post it. (Did you not know I was random? Hmm.)

Oh, and Boris Yeltsin died. I got the Breaking News!!!!!! item this morning but I don't know Boris so it didn't really make me feel one way or the other.

Friday FYIs

My mind is not what it used to be. I know I have more of these, so I'll add them as my mind recalls what it is I have to tell you.

"Sugar on snow" is clean snow topped with maple syrup. One eats this, then chases it with dill pickle slices and donut holes. Coffee is the preferred beverage. The best music to listen to while consuming sugar on snow is bluegrass.

DSC02639 DSC02642

One tends to consume this after the winter is over as a reminder of how happy we are that the maple syrup season was successful. Contrary to popular Floridian belief, the act of consuming sugar on snow is not weird. :P

It's 4/20. Around here that makes life difficult. The police are roaming, and rightly so.

Multi-grain cheese puffs are still really bad for you, although they do have 40% less fat than the other cheese puffs. They're also really dry and nasty. Stick with the regular.

I'm bringing SexyBack. Single-handedly. JT and Prince can follow my lead.

It smells like urine in my office, not by my doing.

Crys is the most hysterical movie maker ever. I feel manic when I watch her videos, because she is manic for the both of us but she still seeps it into me.

les secrets

If you have a secret you need to offload then I'm your girl. I keep a mean secret and require very little in reciprocation (flowers, candy, cheese, alcohol, foot massage [ew, ew, ew,ew], a prity pikshur* -- that kind of stuff). Be forewarned, however, that I might divulge all the secrets in my memoirs book to be published when I die.

*And Sour? I promise you that I will be sending your consolation prize prity pikshur soon. I'm still scheming on the deets. If you have a special request please let me know. It won't be as fantastic as Stef's or Avi's artwork. Remember when I drew this:

? It'll be more like that. :P

And since I mentioned it the last time I posted that artwork, I shall remind the last two innocent viewers of my blog that stfu = shut the fuck up.

PS - Best note evah which was almost left on a car? Stef's gym note:

Seething Reprimand

you're it

Please note: Until I am sick of Morse code I will randomly be changing my tagline. It has been changed from yesterday's tagline. Enjoy. And, if you want to respond in Morse code I like that very much. Especially when Jen does it. :D

Spring forward, SVP

We are turning our clocks an hour ahead 3 weeks early this year, thanks to some plan about energy conservation that might possibly work if we can stop having such ridiculously cold weather in much of the nation.

We'll be falling back 1 week early on November 4. I'll remind you when we're closer to the date. ;)

get your coffee on

It's a bit early to mention, but I want to make sure to share:
Someone had free coffee this week or last week from 5am-8am (McD's I think) but I heard about it was on my local radio station at 8:23am (oops) so maybe it was just a local promo.

Thanks to Slashfood for sharing the news.

(Yes, I needed a break already.)

Block addresses without having your own server so you don't inflate your hit count

Edit: At Avi's suggestion that this wasn't what I thought it was I looked at the settings and found that this feature is just so you don't inflate your daily hit count. Here's the official wording from their site:

"IP Blocking
You can specify your IP Address or a range such as 212.14.23.* or even 212.*.*.* to be blocked. This prevents you or someone from your organisation inflating your count. Put each IP address on a new line with no spaces if you want it blocked. Or empty the box if you want to count all visits."

Still useful, just not in the way I had hoped. I wasn't thinking clearly. It's been a day, as you know already. But, perhaps you find this feature useful so I'll leave it up.

StatCounter is kind enough to offer a blocking service on any blog or site they help you manage traffic. Here's the details via email:

    Dear Poppy Cede,

    -----------------------------------------------
    Get your BLOCKs off....
    -----------------------------------------------
Well no actually, get your blocks on....because we've added another new
    feature to StatCounter!

Rather than just blocking individual IP addresses, you can now block a
    whole range.

And yes - before you ask - you can block an IP address range across all
your projects now with just one click!

To use this feature simply login to your account.

    - Click the 'wrench' icon beside one of your projects.
    - Click 'edit settings'.
    - Enter the ip addresses and ranges you would like to block.
    - If you want to update all projects with this, click the box below it.

    That's it!

Source of tainted peanut butter identified

A few weeks ago salmonella was found in Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butters. Today the source of the contamination was found in Georgia. Isolated incident. No need for widespread panic. Can we put the peanut butter back on the restaurant tables now? Thanks.

balloooooon

I apologize for the inflated traffic to my favorite blogs. This morning I switched from Bloglines to Google Reader after finally getting a kick in the ass from Molly. (Thanks, Molly! And everyone else who already told me to DO IT, but I didn't listen.) I think I visited everyone's blog about 5 times this morning while I straightened out the subscriptions, but I love Google Reader. Yay!

mulling it over

Anyone planning on going to BlogHer? It's July 27-28 in Chicago. I'm up for a windy city visit, I think... assuming I wasn't added to the no-fly list.

Administrivia

Gecko is a self-proclaimed lame duck this week as he transitions from one job that is laying him off to a new venture starting Monday. He has nothing to do. Please visit his comments or mine and leave him suggestions for fun web stuff to do. Thanks, everyone!

Congratulations to B and DH who finally moved to their - new - home! B, we need to chat!!! :)

I have a full work schedule today, perhaps stealing some time late this afternoon. If anything exciting happens in the world please leave me an email or comment and I'll get back to you when I'm back in the virtual office. *beep!* (BTW/FYI/SYN: Britney does not count as exciting news. So, please don't bother. However? Christina Aguilera possibly being pregnant is. Congrats to X and Brat!)
